Claims
- 1. An adapter device for use with a light adjusting flash device and a camera, said flash device having charge completion signal forming means for putting out a charge completion signal when the charge level of a capacitor for flashlight emission reaches a predetermined value, and having light adjusting circuit means for stopping the flashlight emission when the quantity of light reflected from an object and received by a light receiving element reaches a predetermined level, and said camera having a day-light aperture signal forming circuit for forming an aperture value signal for day-light mode, an aperture control circuit for controlling an aperture on the basis of a signal from the day-light aperture signal forming circuit in a day-light mode and for controlling an aperture on the basis of a flash aperture value signal suitable for flash photography in flashlight mode, an aperture control mode selection circuit for selecting one of the day-light and flashlight modes, a ground terminal, a first external terminal being connected to said aperture mode selection circuit, second external terminal being connected to said aperture control circuit, and a voltage source being connected between said ground terminal and said first external terminal, for applying a voltage to at least one of said aperture control and mode selection circuits; said adapter device comprising:
- (a) first terminal means adapted to be connected to said charge completion signal forming means in the flash device;
- (b) second terminal means adapted to be connected to said mode selection circuit in the camera;
- (c) transistor means having a control electrode connected to said first terminal means, a first main electrode connected to a ground and a second main electrode connected to said second terminal means, said transistor means being turned on in response to an application of said charge completion signal to said control electrode to change the electrical condition at said second terminal means to operate said mode selecting circuit so that it selects the flashlight mode selection;
- (d) flashlight aperture signal forming means for forming said flash aperture value signal; and
- (e) third terminal means connected to said flashlight aperture signal forming means and adapted to be connected to said second external terminal for transmitting said flash aperture value signal to said aperture control circuit.
- 2. An adapter device according to claim 1, wherein said adapter device comprises setting means for setting said aperture value signal to a desired value and means for changing a flashlight emission value adjusted by said light adjusting circuit means on the basis of said value set by said setting means.
- 3. A device adapter according to claim 1, wherein said flashlight aperture signal forming means is responsive to said charge completion signal for forming said flash aperture value signal.
- 4. A flash photography system for use with a camera having a day-light aperture signal forming circuit for forming an aperture value signal for day-light mode, an aperture control circuit for controlling an aperture on the basis of a signal from the day-light aperture signal forming circuit in a day-light mode and for controlling an aperture on the basis of a flash aperture value signal suitable for flash photography in a flashlight mode, an aperture control mode selection circuit for selecting one of the day-light and flashlight modes, a ground terminal, a first external terminal being connected to said mode selection circuit, a voltage source for applying a voltage to at least one of said aperture control and mode selection circuits, wherein said voltage source is connected between said ground terminal and said first external terminal, and said second external terminal being connected to said aperture control circuit; said system comprising:
- (A) A light adjusting flash device including:
- (a) flash means;
- (b) accumulating means for accumulating flash energy;
- (c) light adjusting means for having a light receiving element for receiving reflected light from an object, and a light emission stopping circuit for stopping the light emission of said flash means when the amount of light received by said light receiving element reaches a predetermined value;
- (d) completion signal forming circuit means connected to said accumulating means to put out a completion signal when the flash energy accumulated by said accumulating means reaches a predetermined level; and
- (e) an output terminal connected to said completion signal forming circuit means; and
- (B) an adapter device including:
- (a) first terminal means adapted to be connected to said output terminal in the flash device;
- (b) second terminal means adapted to be connected to said first external terminal in the camera;
- (c) transistor means having a control electrode connected to said first terminal means, a first main electrode adapted to be connected to a ground and a second main electrode connected to said second terminal means, said transistor means being turned on in response to application of said completion signal to said control electrode through said output terminal and first terminal means to change the electrical condition at said second terminal means to operate said mode selection circuit to establish the flashlight mode selection;
- (d) diaphragm signal forming circuit means for forming said flash aperture value diaphragm signal for flash photography corresponding to said predetermined value of the amount of light; and
- (e) third terminal means connected to said diaphragm signal forming circuit means and adapted to be connected to said second external terminal for transmitting said flash aperture value signal to said aperture control circuit.
- 5. An adapter device for use with a light adjusting flash device and a camera for performing an automatic exposure in flash photography, said flash device having a light receiving element for receiving flashlight, reflected from an object, through a light receiving portion formed in a casing of said flash device, a light control circuit coupled to said light receiving element to control the duration of flashlight on the basis of the light received by said light receiving element, accumulating means for accumulating flash energy, and a signal forming circuit for producing a signal when the flash energy accumulated by said accumulating means reaches a predetermined level, said camera having an aperture control circuit which assumes a flash mode in response to a changeover signal, said aperture control circuit controlling an exposure aperture on the basis of a designated aperture signal in a flash mode, said adapter device comprising:
- (a) a light path portion formed in a casing of said adapter device through which the flashlight reflected from the object passes, said light path portion being positioned relative to said light receiving portion of said flash device when said adapter device is mounted on said flash device so that the flashlight reflected from the object passes through said light path portion and said light receiving portion to be received by said light receiving element;
- (b) input terminal means for receiving the signal from said signal forming circuit;
- (c) a changeover signal forming circuit connected to said input terminal means to form the changeover signal in response to the signal from said signal forming circuit;
- (d) a designated aperture signal forming circuit for providing said designated aperture signal;
- (e) output terminal means for transmitting the changeover signal to said aperture control circuit; and
- (f) light-quantity adjusting means for adjusting the quantity of light to be received by said light receiving element, said designated aperture signal forming circuit forming a designated aperture signal having a level corresponding to the adjusting state of said adjusting means.
- 6. An adapter device according to claim 5, wherein said light path portion is defined by an opening, said adjusting means comprises light attenuating means for adjustably attenuating the light to be introduced through said opening, and said designated aperture signal forming circuit controls the value of the designated aperture signal to be emitted, in association with said attenuating means.
- 7. An adapter device according to claim 5, wherein said adjusting means includes a light attenuating member for changing the light transmitting property, said light attenuating member being positioned in front of said light receiving means when said adapter device is mounted on said flash device.
- 8. An adapter device for use with a light adjusting flash device having light receiving means for receiving reflected light of the flashlight, light adjusting circuit means for stopping the flashlight emission when the quantity of light received by said light receiving means reaches a predetermined light receiving level, and a first setting operational member for setting the light receiving level, said adapter device being effective to form a signal for rendering an aperture value of a camera to a value suitable for flash photography, said adapter device comprising:
- (a) a mounting member for permitting the adapter device to be mounted on the flash device only when said first setting operational member is in a predetermined set position;
- (b) a second setting operational member for setting, independently of said first setting operational member, the light receiving level when said first setting operational member is in said predetermined set position;
- (c) signal forming means for forming a designated aperture value signal corresponding to the light receiving level set by said second setting operational member; and
- (b) terminal means for putting out the signal from said signal forming means.
- 9. An adapter device according to claim 8, wherein said mounting member includes a recess engageable with said first setting operational member when said first setting operational member is in its predetermined set position.
- 10. An adapter device for use with a light adjusting flash device having light receiving means for receiving reflected light of flashlight and light adjusting circuit means for stopping the flashlight emission when the quantity of light received by said light receiving means reaches a predetermined light receiving level, said adapter device comprising:
- (a) inhibition means for bringing said light adjusting circuit means into an inoperative condition when said adapter device is used with said flash device;
- (b) second light receiving means;
- (c) second light adjusting circuit means for forming a signal to stop the flashlight emission when the quantity of light received by said second light receiving means reaches a predetermined light receiving level; and
- (d) an aperture signal forming circuit for forming an aperture signal to control an aperture of a camera, said aperture signal having a value corresponding to said predetermined light receiving level.
- 11. An adapter device according to claim 10, wherein said inhibition means includes a light intercepting means for automatically intercepting the light into said light receiving means in the flash device when the adapter is mounted on the flash device.
- 12. An adapter device according to claim 11, further comprising setting means for setting the light receiving level of said second light adjusting circuit means.
- 13. An adapter device according to claim 10, further comprising setting means for setting the light receiving level of said second light adjusting circuit means by said setting means.
- 14. An adapter device for use with a light adjusting flash device having a light receiving element unit, including a light receiving element and setting means for setting a level of light adjustment, said flash device having mounting means for said light receiving element unit and adjusting circuit means for adjusting flashlight duration on the basis of the level set by said setting means, said light receiving element in said light receiving element unit being connected to said adjusting circuit means through a terminal formed on said mounting means, when said light receiving element unit is mounted on said mounting means, to control the flashlight duration on the basis of an output from said light receiving element, said adapter device comprising:
- (a) second mounting means for said light receiving element unit;
- (b) a second terminal formed on said second mounting means to be connected with said light receiving element in said light receiving element unit, when said unit is mounted on said second mounting means, so that the output of said light receiving element is emitted from said second terminal, said second terminal being connectable with said terminal formed on said mounting means in the flash device; and
- (c) an aperture signal forming circuit for forming an aperture signal to control an aperture of a camera, said aperture signal having a value corresponding to the light adjusting level set by said setting means.
- 15. An adapter device for use with a flash device and a camera, said flash device having charge completion signal forming means for putting out a charge completion signal when the charge level of a capacitor for flashlight emission reaches a predetermined value, and said camera having a day-light aperture signal forming circuit for forming an aperture value signal for day-light mode, an aperture control circuit for controlling an aperture on the basis of a signal from the day-light aperture signal forming circuit in a day-light mode and for controlling an aperture on the basis of a flash aperture value signal suitable for flash photography in flashlight mode, an aperture control mode selection circuit for selecting one of the day-light and flashlight modes, a voltage source for applying a voltage to at least one of said aperture control and mode selection circuits, a ground terminal, first external terminal being connected to said mode selection circuit, and a second external terminal being connected to said aperture control circuit; said adapter device comprising:
- (a) light receiving means for receiving reflected light from an object;
- (b) control circuit means, associated with said light receiving means, for forming a signal to stop the flashlight emission when the quantity of light received by said light receiving means reaches a predetermined light receiving level, said flash device stopping the flashlight emission in response to the signal;
- (c) first terminal means adapted to be connected to a charge completion signal forming means in the flash device;
- (d) second terminal means adapted to be connected to said first external terminal in the camera;
- (e) a switching element having a control electrode connected to said first terminal means, a first main electrode adapted to be connected to a ground and a second main electrode connected to said second terminal means, said switching element being turned on in response to an application, to said control electrode, of a charge completion signal from said charge completion signal forming means in the flash device to change the electrical condition at said second terminal means to establish a flash mode in said mode selection circuit in the camera;
- (f) signal forming means for forming said flash aperture value signal to control the aperture of the camera in the flash mode, said aperture value signal having a value corresponding to the light receiving level; and
- (g) third terminal means connected to said signal forming means and adapted to be connected to said second external terminal for transmitting said flash aperture value signal to said aperture control circuit.
- 16. An adapter device for use with a light adjusting flash device and a camera, said flash device having charge completion signal forming means for putting out a charge completion signal when the charge level of a capacitor for flashlight emission reaches a predetermined value, and light adjusting circuit means for stopping the flashlight emission when the quantity of light reflected from an object and received by a light receiving element reaches a predetermined level, and said camera having a day-light aperture signal forming circuit for forming an aperture value signal for day-light mode, aperture control circuit for controlling an aperture on the basis of a signal from the day-light aperture signal forming circuit in a day-light mode and for controlling an aperture on the basis of a flash aperture value signal suitable for flash photography in flashlight mode, an aperture control mode selection circuit for selecting one of the day-light and flashlight modes, a ground terminal, a first external terminal being connected to said mode selection circuit, a voltage source being connected between said ground terminal and said first external terminal, for applying a voltage to at least one of said aperture control and mode selection circuits, and said second external terminal being connected to said aperture control circuit; said adapter device comprising:
- (a) first terminal means adapted to be connected to said charge completion signal forming means in the flash device;
- (b) second terminal means adapted to be connected to said mode selection circuit in the camera;
- (c) switching element having a control electrode connected to said first terminal means, a first main electrode connected to a ground and a second main electrode connected to said second terminal means, said transistor means being turned on in response to an application of said charge completion signal to said control electrode to change the electrical condition at said second terminal means to operate said mode selecting circuit so that it selects the flashlight mode selection;
- (d) flashlight aperture signal forming means for forming said flash aperture value signal; and
- (e) third terminal means connected to said flashlight aperture signal forming means and adapted to be connected to said second external terminal for transmitting said flash aperture value signal to said aperture control circuit.
