Claims
- 1. An improved breast shield for a breastmilk pump assembly, comprising:a generally rigid receptacle part for receiving a breast therein; at least one area of said receptacle part formed integral therewith being movable inwardly relative to a central axis of said receptacle part to massage the breast; and said generally rigid receptacle having a rigid frame having a ring formed integral therewith, a rigid tubular extension formed integral with said receptacle part and extending from an opening defined within said receptacle part through which a nipple of the breast can pass into said tubular extension, and at least one rigid strut member formed integral with and spacing apart said ring and tubular extension, wherein said breast shield is furthermore interchangeable with other breast shields for providing the breastmilk pump assembly with a plurality of adaptations in the form of different breast shields.
- 2. The improved breast shield of claim 1 wherein said tubular extension has at least one area of flexible material formed integral therewith, said area of flexible material being movable inwardly relative to a central axis of said tubular extension for massaging a nipple of the breast.
- 3. An improved breast shield for a breastmilk pump assembly, comprising:a part for receiving a breast therein, said part being formed of a flexible material; at least one area of said part having a reduced wall thickness, said area of reduced wall thickness being movable inwardly relative to a central axis of said part to massage the breast; and said part having a rigid frame having a ring formed integral therewith, a rigid tubular extension formed integral with said part and extending from an opening defined within said part through which a nipple of the breast can pass into said tubular extension, and at least one rigid strut member formed integral with and spacing apart said ring and tubular extension, wherein said breast shield is furthermore interchangeable with other breast shields for providing the breastmilk pump assembly with a plurality of adaptations in the form of different breast shields.
- 4. The improved breast shield of claim 3 wherein said tubular extension has at least one area of flexible material formed integral therewith, said area of flexible material being movable inwardly relative to a central axis of said tubular extension to massage the nipple.
- 5. A shield for use with a breastpump comprising:a rigid frame, said frame comprising a ring, a tubular extension and at least one strut member spacing said ring and extension apart; and a flexible funnel-shaped membrane integrally molded to said ring and tubular extension, wherein said shield is furthermore interchangeable with other shields for providing the breastpump with a plurality of adaptations in the form of different shields.
- 6. The shield of claim 5 wherein said flexible funnel-shaped membrane is integrally molded within internal diameters of said ring and tubular extension.
- 7. The shield of claim 6 wherein said flexible funnel-shaped membrane extends beyond said ring in a direction away from said tubular extension.
