Claims
- 1. A method for inhibiting or destroying unicellular organisms which comprises administering a composition which comprises an active ingredient, and
- a synergistically effective amount of a potentiator which is lithium fluoride, said amount being effective to reduce the amount of said active ingredient necessary to inhibit or destroy said unicellular organisms, said amount also being at least 0.2% by weight but less than the amount of said active ingredient.
- 2. The method for inhibiting or destroying unicellular organisms of claim 1, wherein the unicellular organisms are selected from the group consisting of protozoa, microbes, bacteria, fungi and yeasts.
- 3. The method for inhibiting or destroying unicellular organisms of claim 1, wherein the active ingredient is selected from the group consisting of betalactamins, macrolides, polypeptidic antibiotics, phenicolated antibiotics, rifamycins, lincosanides, streptogramines, sulfamides, trimethoprimes, aminocides, cyclins, quinolones and their derivatives and combinations thereof.
- 4. A composition for inhibiting or destroying unicellular organisms which comprises an active ingredient, and
- a synergistically effective amount of a potentiator which is lithium fluoride, said amount being effective to reduce the amount of said active ingredient necessary to inhibit or destroy said unicellular organisms, said amount also being at least 0.2% by weight but less than the amount of said active ingredient.
- 5. The composition for inhibiting or destroying unicellular organisms of claim 4, wherein the unicellular organisms are selected from the group consisting of protozoa, microbes, bacteria, fungi and yeast.
- 6. The composition for inhibiting or destroying unicellular organisms of claim 4, wherein the active ingredient is selected from the group consisting of betalactamins, macrolides, polypeptidic antibiotics, phenicolated antibiotics, rifamycins, lincosanides, streptogramines, sulfamides, trimethoprimes, aminocides, cyclins, quinolones and their derivatives and combinations thereof.
