Abstract
The oject of this invention are de-mannosylated teicoplanin derivatives which can be obtained in good yield by microbiological transformation with cultures of Nocardia orientalis NRRL 2450 or Streptomyces candiodus NRRL 3218.
Description
Claims
  • 1. A compound of the formula: ##STR3## wherein R.sup.1 is represented by N-Z(Z-4-decenoyl)-beta-D-2-deoxy-2-amino-glucpyranosyl, N-(8-methyl-[noanoyl] nonanoyl)-beta-D-2-deoxy-2-amino-glucopyranosyl, N-decanoyl-beta-D-2-deoxy-2-amino-glucopyranosyl, N-(8-methyl-decanoyl)-beta-D-2-deoxy-2-amino-glucopyranosyl, or N-(9-methyl-decanoyl)-beta-D-2-deoxy-2-amino-glucopyranosyl;
  • R.sub.1 is N-acetyl-beta-D-2-deoxy-[2-deoxy0]2-amino-glucopyranosyl;
  • R.sub.2 is hydrogen;
  • or an acidic or basic addition salt thereof.
  • 2. A compound according to claim 1 wherein:
  • R is N-(Z-4-decenoyl)-beta-D-2-deoxy-2-amino-glucopy-ranosyl,
  • R.sub.1 is N-acetyl-beta-D-2-deoxy2-amino-glucopyranosyl,
  • R.sub.2 is hydrogen.
  • 3. A compound according to claim 1 wherein:
  • R.sub.1 is N-(8-methyl-nonanoyl)-beta-D-2-deoxy-2-amino-glucopyranosyl,
  • R.sub.1 is N-acetyl-beta-D-2-deoxy-2-amino-glucopyranosyl,
  • R.sub.2 is hydrogen.
  • 4. A compound according to claim 1 wherein:
  • R is N-decanoyl-beta-D-2-deoxy-2-amino-glucopyranosyl,
  • R.sub.1 is N-acetyl-beta-D-2-deoxy-2-amno-glucopyranosyl,
  • R.sub.2 is hydrogen.
  • 5. A compound according to claim 1 wherein:
  • R is N-(8-methyl-decanoyl)-beta-D-2-deoxy-2-amino-glucopyranosyl,
  • R.sub.1 is N-acetyl-beta-D-2-deoxy-2-amino-glucopyranosyl,
  • R.sub.2 is hydrogen.
  • 6. A compound according to claim 1 wherein:
  • R is N-(9-methyl-decanoyl)-beta-D-2-deoxy-2-amino-glucopyranosyl,
  • R.sub.1 is N-acetyl-beta-D-2-deoxy-2-amino0glucopyranosyl,
  • R.sub.2 is hydrogen.
  • 7. An antibacterial composition comprising an antibacterially effective amount of one or more antibiotic compounds of claim 1 in admixture with a pharmaceutically acceptalbe carrier.
  • 8. An animal feed composition comprising an effective amount of one or more of the antibiotic compounds of claim 1 in admixture with a suitable feed.
  • 9. A method for the treatment of bacterial infections comprising administering an effective amount of a compound according to claim 1 to a patient in need thereof.
  • 10. A method for promoting the growth of animals comprising administering an effective amount of a compound according to claim 1 to an animal in need thereof.
