Claims
- 1. A process for assembling a long life hollow cathode assembly comprising a cathode tube and disc orifice sub-assembly, a swaged heater sub-assembly, a keeper sub-assembly comprising a keeper cap, a keeper tube and a keeper collar, an expellant isolater sub-assembly, a keeper brazing sub-assembly, an anode connector assembly, and an insert cathode sub-assembly, wherein all assembly procedures are conducted in a Class 1000 clean room on a cleaned stainless steel clean room-rated table, comprising the steps of:providing an insert cathode sub-assembly as a completed sub-assembly, wherein the cathode tube of said sub-assembly is welded to a disc orifice and vacuum fired; and, installing the swaged heater onto the cathode tube using a ceramic cement.
- 2. The process for assembling a hollow cathode assembly according to claim 1, wherein the expellant isolator sub-assembly is procured as a brazed sub-assembly, comprising a xenon feed line, a nut, an isolator tube, seal fitting, and a screen.
- 3. The process for assembling a hollow cathode assembly according to claim 2, further comprising the steps of:brazing the sleeve to the swaged heater sheath; brazing the swaged heater sheath, the cathode tube, and the keeper collar, to the isolator; and, brazing the keeper tube to the keeper collar.
- 4. The process for assembling a hollow cathode assembly according to claim 3, further comprising the step of:inserting the anode connector into the keeper collar.
- 5. The process for assembling a hollow cathode assembly according to claim 4, further comprising the step of:installing an insert cathode sub-assembly into a cathode tube; butting the insert cylinder securely against the back of the disc orifice; and, concomitantly, maintaining the position of the insert legs at degree intervals, with no cross-over; installing leg holder, so that the insert legs slide into the slots in the leg holder and that the upstream plane of the leg holder is flush with the upstream end of the cathode tube.
- 6. The process for assembling a hollow cathode assembly according to claim 5, further comprising the step of:installing the expellant isolator sub assembly onto the cathode tube; ensuring meanwhile that the cathode tube is fully butted against the expellant isolator sub-assembly.
