Genus and species: Dianthus caryophyllus L.
Variety denominations: ‘KLEDG24541’.0
The present invention comprises a new and distinct variety of Dianthus, botanically known as Dianthus caryophyllus L, and hereinafter referred to by the variety name ‘KLEDG24541’. ‘KLEDG24541’ originated from a whole plant mutation from the Dianthus line ‘KLEDP07089’ (unpatented) that was discovered in May 2020 in a greenhouse in Stuttgart, Germany.
In September 2020, ‘KLEDG24541’ was first vegetatively propagated by vegetative stem cuttings in Stuttgart, Germany. ‘KLEDG24541’ was found to reproduce true to type in successive generations of asexual propagation in Stuttgart, Germany via vegetative stem cuttings.
The following are the most outstanding and distinguishing characteristics of ‘KLEDG24541’ when grown under normal horticultural practices in Stuttgart, Germany.
The new Dianthus plant provided herein is illustrated by the accompanying photograph taken in a greenhouse in Stuttgart, Germany, where the photograph shows a whole plant of the new Dianthus plant showing the foliage, buds and flower of a 11-week-old plant taken in March 2023. The colors shown are as true as can be reasonably obtained by conventional photographic procedures.
The following detailed descriptions set forth the distinctive characteristics of ‘KLEDG24541’. The data which define these characteristics were collected from asexual reproductions carried out in Stuttgart, Germany. Data was collected in April 2024 on a plant that was potted in week 41 of 2023. Color references are to The R.H.S. Colour Chart of The Royal Horticultural Society of London (R.H.S.), 5th edition (2007).
‘KLEDG24541’ is distinguished from the parental line as described in Table 1.
‘KLEDG24541’ can be compared to the commercial Dianthus variety ‘KLEDP07088’ (not patented). Differences between the varieties are described in Table 2.
