Claims
- 1. A method of surgery, comprising the steps of:
forming a bone groove having a trapezoidal cross-section; and installing a mensical allograft having a correspondingly shaped trapezoidal bone block into the bone groove.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the trapezoidal bone block of the meniscal allograft is formed by making three cuts of the bone block using a workstation and three cutting jigs.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein the bone block of the meniscal allograft is formed so that two edges of the bone block define at least a ninety degree angle.
- 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the bone block of the meniscal allograft is formed so that two edges of the bone block define an acute angle.
- 5. The method of claim 5, wherein the acute angle is about 25 degrees to about 75 degrees.
- 6. The method of claim 5, wherein the acute angle is about 45 degrees.
- 7. A method of performing orthopaedic surgery, the method comprising the steps of:
forming a longitudinal groove into a bone, the longitudinal groove having a trapezoidal cross-section and a predefined length; installing an elongated meniscal allograft implant with a bone block having a trapezoidal cross-section corresponding to the shape of the longitudinal groove into the longitudinal groove.
- 8. The method of claim 7, wherein the bone block of the meniscal allograft is formed into a trapezoidal cross section by mounting the allograft onto a work station and making three cuts into the bone block.
- 9. An allograft implant, comprising:
a bone block having a trapezoidal cross-section; and a meniscus attached to the bone block.
- 10. The allograft implant of claim 9, wherein two edges of the bone block define at least a ninety degree angle.
- 11. The allograft implant of claim 9, wherein two edges of the bone block define an acute angle.
- 12. The allograft implant of claim 10, wherein the acute angle is about 25 degrees to about 75 degrees.
- 13. The allograft implant of claim 10, wherein the acute angle is about 45 degrees.
- 14. A meniscal allograft implant for insertion into a longitudinal groove provided within a bone during an arthroscopic surgery, comprising a longitudinally extending allograft bone block coupled to a meniscal allograft, the bone block having a cross-section in the form of a trapezoid.
- 15. The meniscal allograft implant of claim 14, wherein the bone block of the meniscal allograft is formed into a trapezoidal shape on a workstation using three cutting jigs to make three corresponding cuts.
- 16. The meniscal allograft implant of claim 14, wherein two edges of the bone block define an acute angle.
- 17. The meniscal allograft implant of claim 16, wherein the acute angle is about 25 degrees to about 75 degrees.
- 18. The meniscal allograft implant of claim 16, wherein the acute angle is about 45 degrees.
