Abstract
In an aspect, an integrated hair and scalp protective hair extension clip, suitable for styling hair is provided. The clip includes a clip body, wherein the clip body includes a u-shaped base member. The clip also includes a plurality of legs attached to a bottom of the u-shaped member. The clip additionally includes a plurality of holes. The clip also includes a locking bar, wherein the locking bar includes a plurality of holes positionable about corners of the locking bar, wherein the locking bar is connected to the clip body with a plurality of fastening devices affixing the locking bar to the clip body utilizing the plurality of holes of the locking bar and the plurality of holes of the clip body. The clip further includes a sleeve, wherein the sleeve is configured to be placed onto the locking bar to assist in holding strands of hair in place.
Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to hair extension clips, and more particularly, to integrated hair and scalp protective hair extension clips which provide a user the ability to economically and efficiently perform a plurality of hair styling evolutions using a novel hair styling clip for a plurality of hair types and hair styles.


BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Many methods and systems have been used in unsuccessful attempts to provide a universal hair clip that can be used in almost any situation. These systems and methods have not been reliable or effective. Many of the unsuccessful systems are cumbersome, costly and fail to provide a universal common device to use in most hair styling situations.


As the hair and fashion industry continues developing, quite often hair stylists encounter a wider range of hair scalps, hair types, and hair styling choices. Once a person invests in expensive hair treatments, hair scalp treatments, and desires more sophisticated hair styling options such as hair extensions and hair accessories, hair stylists find themselves in situations where the currently available hair styling tools, equipment, and devices are not a one size fits all solutions. Quite often, the unique design of the hair style coupled with the sensitivity of the hair and scalp presents situations not usually encountered by traditional hair style salons.


Quite often, current hair styling methodologies do not take into account the sensitivity of the hair and/or scalp. These evolutions sometimes result in damaging existing surrounding areas of hair and scalp where hair extensions are used. These solutions can be expensive, time consuming, and render the hair and scalp damaged.


Additionally, past attempts have failed to provide a singular device for a user to use in any environment to effectively interface a plurality of hair clip extensions with a plurality of hair and scalp types.


Accordingly, there is an established need for a hair extension clip which solves at least one of the aforementioned problems. Further, there is an established need for an integrated hair and scalp protective hair extension clip which can address providing an effective and economical method for styling hair utilizing a universal clip extension while protecting hair and scalp.


SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

According to an aspect of the present invention, an integrated hair and scalp protective hair extension clip, suitable for styling hair is provided. The clip includes a clip body, wherein the clip body includes a u-shaped base member. The clip also includes a plurality of legs attached to a bottom of the u-shaped base member. The plurality of holes are positionable on about a perimeter of the u-shaped member and wherein the holes are positionable about a centered area of a width of the u-shaped base member.


The clip also includes a locking bar, wherein the locking bar includes a plurality of holes positionable about corners of the locking bar, wherein the locking bar is connected to the clip body with a plurality of fastening devices affixing the locking bar to the clip body utilizing the plurality of holes of the locking bar and the plurality of holes of the clip body. The clip further includes a sleeve, wherein the sleeve is configured to be placed onto the locking bar.


The clip is further configured such that wherein the integrated hair and scalp protective hair extension clip allows holding in place strands of hair within the clip when the plurality of legs are held in an open position, and the strands of hair are positioned perpendicular to the plurality of legs and then the plurality of legs are placed in a closed position and whereupon a spring action of the plurality of legs provide pressure onto the strands of hair against a surface of the sleeve and wherein the clip body is affixed to another device, fabric, hair, and/or styling device in order to provide holding of the integrated hair and scalp protective hair extension clip in place with respect to a person's head.


These innovations include new, useful, and non-obvious systems which provide a user of the system to universal hair clips to be used in a plurality of hair styling situations.


In embodiments, the plurality of legs includes four legs, wherein the four legs are configured to be bendable and incorporate a spring action when opening and closing the legs.


In embodiments, the plurality of legs includes two center legs which are longer in length than outer legs.


In embodiments, the plurality of legs includes bent regions.


In embodiments, the sleeve includes elastomeric materials.


In embodiments, the fastening devices includes reinforced eyelets.


In embodiments, the clip includes a clip interface, wherein the clip interface is configured to interact with another integrated hair and scalp protective hair extension clip, a hair clip, a hair extension, a fabric, a hair accessory, a person's hair, and/or a person's scalp.


In embodiments, the clip interface includes magnets, the magnets configured to interface with ferromagnetic materials.


In embodiments, the clip interface includes adhesive material.


In embodiments, the clip interface includes fabric.


In embodiments, the clip interface is removable from the clip.


In embodiments, the clip body includes metals, ceramics, composite materials, and/or wood.


In embodiments, the locking bar includes metals, ceramics, composite materials, and/or wood.


In embodiments, the clip can include bent regions within the legs wherein the bent regions can be preloaded with a spring action such that when the legs are in an open position the legs have a potential stored energy in that when the legs are then placed in a closed position the preloaded spring force in the legs places pressure from the legs onto the surface of the sleeve thereby holding strands of hair in place in the clip when the legs are in a closed position.


In embodiments, the clip can preferentially have two reinforced eyelets only affixing the locking bar to the clip body.


In embodiments the locking bar can preferentially include four holes positionable about corners of the locking bar.


In embodiments, the locking bar can preferentially have two slots parallel to one another arranged in a perpendicular orientation to the legs of the clip body.


In embodiments, the sleeve can include silicone.


In embodiments, the sleeve can include a singular piece configured to slide onto and over the surface of the locking bar.


In embodiments, the clip interface can be designed to allow a plurality of clips to be connected to one another.


In embodiments, the clip interface can be configured to optimize client comfort by providing additional cushioning to allow the surface of the interface to interact with a person's scalp in a gentle fashion.


In embodiments, the clip interface can be structured to include adhesive materials that can be used to affix the clip to another object.


These and other objects, features, and advantages of the present invention will become more readily apparent from the attached drawings and the detailed description of the preferred embodiments, which follow.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The present invention will now be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which preferred embodiments of the invention are shown. This invention may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein. Rather, these embodiments are provided so that this disclosure will be thorough and complete, and will fully convey the scope of the invention to those skilled in the art.


As seen in FIG. 1A, a perspective view of a sleeve 102 is presented. The sleeve 102 can be manufactured out of any pliable material. In embodiments, the sleeve 102 can include silicone. The sleeve can be manufactured such that is a singular piece and designed so that the sleeve 102 can slide over on top of and on a locking bar 104. The sleeve 102 can include dimensions to accommodate sufficient surface friction for grasping strands of hair within the clip. The thickness of the sleeve 102 can vary in order to provide sufficient cushioning and compressive resistance to the spring loaded legs.



FIG. 1B displays a locking bar 104. The locking bar 104 can include a plurality of holes 120 positionable on or about corners of the locking bar 104. The locking bar 102 can include slots 122 arranged parallel to one another.



FIG. 2 displays an exploded view of the clip. As best seen in FIG. 2 the sleeve 102 is on and around the locking bar 104. The locking bar can include slots 122 parallel to one another and arranged perpendicular to the direction of the legs 128. The legs 128 can include bent regions 126. The legs 128 can be manufactured to include a pre-existing spring force in the legs 128 so that when the legs 128 are in a closed position (as seen in FIG. 4A) the legs are pressed against the surface of the sleeve 102. Also seen in FIG. 2 are the eyelets 106 or reinforced grommets, and/or rivets 106 that can be used to affix the locking bar 104 to the clip body 108. The clip body 108 can include legs 128 attached to the base of u-shaped base member 108. The u-shaped base member 108 can include holes 124 positionable about the u-shaped base member 108.


The clip can include eyelets 106 or reinforced eyelets 106 which can be used to affix the locking bar 104 to the clip body 108.


The clip can also include a clip interface 110 which can be used to connect to another clip, another integrated clip, allow a cushioning surface for contacting a human scalp and/or to affix to another device. The clip interface 110 can include magnets, adhesive materials, fabric, tape, and/or hook and loop fasteners.



FIG. 3 displays the components of the clip in an exploded view. As best seen, the slots 122 of the locking bar 104 are arranged in a perpendicular fashion to the legs 128 of the clip body 108. Also, the clip interface 110 can be located onto the same side of the clip as the locking bar 104 and wherein the surface interfaces with another device and/or a human scalp.



FIGS. 4A, 4B, and 4C displays the assembled clip in open position (4B) and closed position (4A) and with the clip interface 110 on a surface of the clip.


As best seen in FIGS. 4A, 4B, and 4C the clip functions by closing the legs 128 onto the surface of the locking bar 104 and with the sleeve 102 being on and around the locking bar 104, provides a mechanism wherein the clip firmly holds strands of hair within the clip when the legs 128 are in a closed position and with the sleeve 102 surface interfacing with the strands of hair protects the hair from extraneous mechanical abrasion. Further, with the clip interface 110 on the surface of the clip, it provides a protective interface of the clip with the scalp of the person whose hair is being styled.


Since many modifications, variations, and changes in detail can be made to the described preferred embodiments of the invention, it is intended that all matters in the foregoing description and shown in the accompanying drawings be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense. Furthermore, it is understood that any of the features presented in the embodiments may be integrated into any of the other embodiments unless explicitly stated otherwise. The scope of the invention should be determined by the appended claims and their legal equivalents.

Claims
  • 1. An integrated hair and scalp protective hair extension clip, suitable for styling hair comprising: a clip body, wherein the clip body includes a u-shaped base member,a plurality of legs attached to a bottom of the u-shaped base member,a plurality of holes positionable on about a perimeter of the u-shaped base member and wherein the holes are positionable about a centered area of a width of the u-shaped base member;a locking bar, wherein the locking bar includes a plurality of holes positionable about corners of the locking bar, wherein the locking bar is connected to the clip body with a plurality of fastening devices affixing the locking bar to the clip body utilizing the plurality of holes of the locking bar and the plurality of holes of the u-shaped base member;a sleeve, wherein the sleeve is configured to be placed onto the locking bar; and wherein the integrated hair and scalp protective hair extension clip allows holding in place strands of hair within the clip when the plurality of legs are held in an open position, and the strands of hair are positioned perpendicular to the plurality of legs and then the plurality of legs are placed in a closed position and whereupon a spring action of the plurality of legs provide pressure onto the strands of hair against a surface of the sleeve and wherein the clip body is affixed to another device, fabric, hair, and/or styling device in order to provide holding of the integrated hair and scalp protective hair extension clip in place with respect to a person's head.
  • 2. The clip as recited in claim 1 wherein the plurality of legs includes four legs, wherein the four legs are configured to be bendable and incorporate a spring action when opening and closing the legs.
  • 3. The clip as recited in claim 1 wherein the plurality of legs includes two center legs which are longer in length than outer legs.
  • 4. The clip as recited in claim 1 wherein the plurality of legs includes bent regions.
  • 5. The clip as recited in claim 1 wherein the sleeve includes elastomeric materials.
  • 6. The clip as recited in claim 1 wherein the fastening devices includes reinforced eyelets.
  • 7. The clip as recited in claim 1 comprising a clip interface, wherein the clip interface is configured to interact with another integrated hair and scalp protective hair extension clip, a hair clip, a hair extension, a fabric, a hair accessory, a person's hair, and/or a person's scalp.
  • 8. The clip as recited in claim 7 wherein the clip interface includes magnets, the magnets configured to interface with ferromagnetic materials.
  • 9. The clip as recited in claim 7 wherein the clip interface includes adhesive material.
  • 10. The clip as recited in claim 7 wherein the clip interface includes fabric.
  • 11. The clip as recited in claim 7 wherein the clip interface is removable from the clip.
  • 12. The clip as recited in claim 1 wherein the clip body includes metals, ceramics, composite materials, and/or wood.
  • 13. The clip as recited in claim 1 wherein the locking bar includes metals, ceramics, composite materials, and/or wood.
