Claims
- 1. A process for the preparation of a compound of the formula ##STR18## wherein: (a) R.sub.1 is hydrogen;
- (b) R.sub.6 is a group of the formula R.sub.8 CO wherein R.sub.8 is hydrogen, loweralkyl, ##STR19## CH.sub.3 CHOH, HOCH.sub.2 CHOH, CH.sub.3 C(CH.sub.3)OH, (CH.sub.3).sub.2 COCH.sub.2 OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 OCH.sub.3, CH.sub.3 C(CH.sub.2 OH).sub.2, C(CH.sub.2 OH).sub.3, ##STR20## wherien R.sub.30 is loweralkyl and q is 1, 2 or 3, a group of the formula R.sub.10 OCR.sub.31 R.sub.32 (CH.sub.2).sub.n wherein R.sub.10 is loweralkyl, R.sub.31 is hydrogen or loweralkyl, R.sub.32 is hydrogen or loweralkyl, and n is 0, 1, 2 or 3; and R.sub.7 is hydrogen;
- (c) R.sub.9 is hydrogen; and
- (d) R.sub.1 and R.sub.9 taken together form a group of the formula CO, a group of the formula SO or a group of the formula CHNR.sub.19 R.sub.20 wherein R.sub.19 and R.sub.20 are each independently loweralkyl; and R.sub.19 and R.sub.20 taken together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached form a group of the formula ##STR21## wherien X is O, S, a group of the formula CHR.sub.15 wherein R.sub.15 is hydrogen, loweralkyl or a group of the formula OR.sub.16 wherein R.sub.16 is loweralkyl, and m is 0 or 1; or a group of the formula NR.sub.18 wherein R.sub.18 is loweralkyl, which comprises contacting a compound of the formula ##STR22## wherein: (a) R.sub.1 is hydrogen;
- (b) R.sub.6 is hydrogen;
- (c) R.sub.7 is a group of the formula R.sub.8 CO wherein R.sub.8 is as above and n are as above;
- (d) R.sub.9 is hydrogen; and
- (e) R.sub.1 and R.sub.9 taken together form a group of the formula CO, a group of the formula SO or a group of the formula CHNR.sub.19 R.sub.20 wherein R.sub.19 and R.sub.20 are as above; and R.sub.19 and R.sub.20 taken together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached form a group of the formula ##STR23## wherein X is O, S, a group of the formula CHR.sub.15 wherein R.sub.15 is as above, a group of the formula OR.sub.16 wherein R.sub.16 and m is as above, or a group of the formula NR.sub.18 wherein R.sub.18 is as above in the presence of an alkali metal bis(triloweralkylsilyl)amide.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein the alkali metal bis(triloweralkylsilyl)amide is lithium bis(trimethylsilyl)amide.
- 3. The process of claim 1 wherein the reaction is conducted in a solvent.
- 4. The process of claim 3 wherein the solvent is an ethereal solvent.
- 5. The process of claim 4 wherein the ethereal solvent is tetrahydrofuran.
