Claims
- 1. A racemic or optically active compound of the formula ##STR17## wherein R.sub.1 is --COOR.sub.6, where R.sub.6 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms;
- R.sub.2 is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkoxy of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkanoyl of 2 to 4 carbon atoms, alkenyl of 2 to 4 carbon atoms; amino or nitro;
- R.sub.3 is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkoxy of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or, together with R.sub.2 in the ortho-position, --CH.dbd.CH--CH.dbd.CH-- or --(CH.sub.2).sub.n --, where n is an integer from 3 to 5;
- R.sub.4 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms; and
- R.sub.5 is alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms or, together with R.sub.4, (CH.sub.2).sub.p --, where p is an integer from 4 to 6;
- or a physiologically compatible acid addition salt thereof.
- 2. A 1-aryloxy-2-hydroxy-3-alkynylamino-propane of claim 1 wherein R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are methyl and R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 have the meanings defined in claim 1.
- 3. A 1-aryloxy-2-hydroxy-3-alkynylamino-propane of claim 1, wherein R.sub.1 is 4-carboxyl, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen, and R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are methyl.
- 4. A cardiovascular pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a aryloxy-2-hydroxy-3-alkynylamino-propane of claim 1 and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
- 5. A method for the treatment of tachycardia in the warm-blooded animal comprising administering a tachycardia stabilizing amount of a 1-aryloxy-2-hydroxy-3-alkynylamino-propane of claim 1.
- 6. A method for the treatment of hypertonia in the warm-blooded animal comprising administering a blood pressure lowering amount of a 1-aryloxy-2-hydroxy-3-alkynyl-amino-propane of claim 1.
