Claims
- 1. A compound having the chemical formula:
- 2. The compound of claim 1, wherein either or both R2 and R3 are independently —NH2.
- 3. 1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-a][1,3,5]triazine-3,5,7-triamine.
- 4. A compound having the chemical structure:
- 5. An energetic material comprising a compound having the chemical structure:
- 6. The energetic material of claim 5, wherein Z+ comprises H+, R comprises a complexing component, and x=1, 2 or 3, m=1, 2 or 3; n=0 or 1; and t=0 or 1.
- 7. The energetic material of claim 5, wherein the compound comprises a salt with Z+ comprising H+ or a cation, and x=0, m=1, 2 or 3, and n=1, 2 or 3, and m is equal to or less than n.
- 8. The energetic material of claim 7, wherein the energetic material comprises a pyrotechnic composition.
- 9. The pyrotechnic composition of claim 8, wherein Z+ comprises a cation.
- 10. The pyrotechnic composition of claim 8, wherein Z comprises a metal.
- 11. The pyrotechnic composition of claim 8, wherein Z comprises an amine salt.
- 12. The pyrotechnic composition of claim 8, wherein Z is selected from the group consisting of Na, Co, Cu, Al, Ni, Ba, Sr, H2NC(NH2)NHCONH2, C(NHNH2)3, NH2NH3, NH4, H2NNHC(NH2)NH2, (H2NNH)2C(NH2), and C(NH2)3.
- 13. The compound of claim 12, wherein Z is selected from the group consisting of Na, Co, Cu, Al, Ni, Ba, and Sr.
- 14. The compound of claim 12, wherein Z is selected from the group consisting of H2NC(NH2)NHCONH2, C(NHNH2)3, NH2NH3, NH4, H2NNHC(NH2)NH2, (H2NNH)2C(NH2), and C(NH2)3.
- 15. The pyrotechnic composition of claim 1, wherein combustion of Z+ results in a color.
- 16. The pyrotechnic composition of claim 1, further comprising an oxidant.
- 17. The pyrotechnic composition of claim 16, wherein the oxidant is selected from the group consisting of ammonium perchlorate, ammonium nitrate, and combinations thereof.
- 18. The pyrotechnic composition of claim 1, further comprising a colorant.
- 19. A method of making a pyrotechnic composition comprising a triazolyl-tetrazinyl-aminotriazine compound comprising the steps of:
providing a triazolo-triaminotriazine precursor; and, diazotizing the precursor wherein triazolyl-tetrazinyl-aminotriazine is formed.
- 20. The method of claim 19, wherein the step of diazotizing the precursor comprises reacting the triazolo-triaminotriazine precursor with a nitrite salt.
- 21. The method of claim 19, wherein the diazotizing agent is selected from the group consisting of nitric oxide, sodium nitrite and potassium nitrite.
- 22. The triazolo-tetrazino-aminotriazine formed by the process of claim 19.
- 23. A pyrotechnic composition comprising triazolyl-tetrazinyl-aminotriazine.
- 24. A chromogen having the chemical structure:
- 25. The chromogen of claim 24, wherein Rx comprises a chromophore selected from the group consisting of —NO, —NO2 and —N═N—.
