Claims
- 1. A compound having the formula: ##STR67## wherein: J is selected from the group consisting of R-hydroxymethylene and S-hydroxymethylene;
- T is alkyloxycarbonyl having from 1 to 2 carbon atoms inclusive in the alkyl group;
- R.sub.1 is hydrogen;
- R.sub.2 is hydrogen or together with R.sub.4 is an alkylene chain of 2 to 3 carbon atoms such that a cycloalkyl of 5 to 6 carbon atoms inclusive is formed;
- R.sub.3 is hydrogen or together with R.sub.4 is a bicycloalkenyl or bicycloalkyl moiety having the formula: ##STR68## such that a bicycloalkyl or bicycloalkenyl compound is formed, wherein m and n are integers having a value of from 0 to 3, p is an integer having a value of from 0 to 4 and q is an integer having a value of from 1 to 4 and wherein the double bond of such bicycloalkenyl is in the m, n, p or q bridge;
- R.sub.4 together with R.sub.2 forms a cycloalkyl or together with R.sub.3 forms a bicycloalkyl or bicycloalkenyl as defined above or together with R.sub.5 is a methylene chain of 3 to 4 carbon atoms such that a cycloalkyl of 4 to 5 carbon atoms inclusive is formed; and
- R.sub.5 is hydrogen or together with R.sub.4 is a cycloalkyl as defined above;
- R.sub.6 is hydrogen or a straight-chain alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms.
- 2. A compound as claimed in claim 1 wherein R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 are closed to form a cycloalkyl of 5 to 6 carbon atoms inclusive.
- 3. Methyl 15,19-cyclo-11.alpha.,16RS-dihydroxy-20-nor-9-oxoprost-13E-en-1-oate.
- 4. Methyl 15,20-cyclo-11.alpha.,16RS-dihydroxy-9-oxoprost-13E-en-1-oate.
- 5. A compound as claimed in claim 1 wherein R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are closed to form a bicycloalkyl or bicycloalkenyl.
- 6. A compound as claimed in claim 5 wherein R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are closed to form a bicycloalkenyl.
- 7. Methyl 11.alpha.,16RS-dihydroxy-16,18-methano-17,20-methano-9-oxoprosta-13E, 19-dien-1-oate.
- 8. A compound as claimed in claim 5, wherein R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are closed to form a bicycloalkyl.
- 9. Methyl 11.alpha.,16RS-dihydroxy-17,20-ethano-16,18-methano-9-oxoprost-13E-en-1-oate.
- 10. Methyl 11.alpha.,16RS-dihydroxy-16,18-methano-17,20-methano-9-oxoprost-13E-en-1-oate.
- 11. Methyl 11.alpha.,16RS-dihydroxy-16,20-methano-17,20-methano-9-oxoprost-13E-en-1-oate.
- 12. A compound as claimed in claim 1 wherein R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are closed to form a cycloalkyl of 4 to 5 carbon atoms inclusive.
- 13. Methyl 11.alpha.,16R-dihydroxy-9-oxo-17,17-propanoprost-13E-en-1-oate.
- 14. Methyl 11.alpha.,16S-dihydroxy-9-oxo-17,17-propanoprost-13E-en-1-oate.
- 15. Methyl 11.alpha.,16S or R-dihydroxy-17,20-methano-17-methyl-9-oxoprost-13E-en-1-oate.
