Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula ##STR46## wherein R is hydrogen, R' is hydrogen, A is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkali metal and equivalent of an alkaline earth metal, magnesium and a pharmaceutically acceptable organic amine base and the wavy line means the OR' group is in the syn position.
- 2. A compound of claim 1 wherein A is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, sodium and an equivalent of diethylamine.
- 3. The compound of claim 1 in its acid form.
- 4. The compound of claim 1 in its sodium salt form.
- 5. An antibiotic composition comprising an antibiotically effective amount of at least one compound of claim 1 and an inert pharmaceutical carrier.
- 6. A composition of claim 5 wherein R is hydrogen, A is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and sodium and R' is hydrogen.
- 7. The composition of claim 5 wherein the compound is the synisomer of 7-/2-(2-amino-4-thiazolyl)-2-hydroxyimino-acetamido/-3-acetoxymethyl-ceph-3-eme-4-carboxylic acid.
- 8. The composition of claim 5 wherein the compound is the sodium salt of the syn isomer of 7-/2-(2-amino-4-thiazolyl)-2-hydroxyimino-acetamido/-3-acetoxymethyl-ceph-3-eme 4-carboxylic acid.
- 9. A method of combatting bacterial infections in warm-blooded animals comprising administering to warm-blooded animals an antibacterially effective amount of at least one compound of claim 1.
- 10. A method of claim 9 wherein R is hydrogen, A is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and sodium and R' is hydrogen.
- 11. The method of claim 9 wherein the compound is the syn isomer of 7-/2-(2-amino-4-thiazolyl)-2-hydroxyimino-acetamido/-3-acetoxymethyl -ceph-3-eme-4-carboxylic acid.
- 12. The method of claim 9 wherein the compound is the sodium salt of the syn isomer of 7-/2-(2-amino-4-thiazolyl)-2-hydroxyimino-acetamido/-3-acetoxymethyl-ceph-3-eme-4-carboxylic acid.
- 13. The composition of claim 5 wherein the active compound is the syn isomer of 7-3-acetoxymethyl-ceph-3-eme-4-carboxylic acid and its salts with sodium or an equivalent of diethylamine.
- 14. The method of claim 9 wherein A is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, sodium and an equivalent of diethylamine.

This application is a division of copending U.S. Pat. application Ser. No. 817,114 filed July 19, 1977, now U.S. Pat. No. 4,152,432, which in turn is a continuation-in-part of copending commonly assigned U.S. patent application Ser. No. 761,270 filed Jan. 21, 1977, now abandoned.
