Claims
- 1. A process for eliciting a hypotensive and vasodilating effect in a mammal in need thereof which comprises systemic administration to said mammal a non-toxic effective dose of from about 0.05 to 20 mg./kg. of body weight of said mammal of a compound selected from the group consisting of those having the formula ##STR25## wherein R.sup.1 is lower alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms;
- R.sup.3 is lower alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms, alkenyl having from 3 to 6 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl having from 3 to 5 carbon atoms, benzyl;
- and a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof.
- 2. The process as claimed in claim 1 employing 3,6,7-trimethoxy-1-veratrylisoquinoline.
- 3. The process as claimed in claim 1 employing 3-ethoxy-6,7-dimethoxy-1-veratrylisoquinoline.
