Claims
- 1. A compound of formula I ##STR62## wherein n is 1, R.sub.1 is thienyl, benzo�b!thienyl or naphtho�2,3-b!thienyl, each unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkylthio, hydroxy, halogen, amino, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkylamino, phenylamino or di(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl)amino,
- R.sub.2 is hydrogen, chloro, hydroxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.25 alkyl, C.sub.7 -C.sub.9 phenylalkyl, unsubstituted or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl-substituted phenyl, unsubstituted or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl-substituted C.sub.5 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl; C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkylthio, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkylamino, di(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl)amino, C.sub.1 -C.sub.25 alkanoyloxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.25 alkanoylamino, C.sub.3 -C.sub.25 alkenoyloxy, C.sub.3 -C.sub.25 alkanoyloxy which is interrupted by oxygen, sulfur or ##STR63## C.sub.6 -C.sub.9 cycloalkylcarbonyloxy, benzoyloxy or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 substituted benzoyloxy;
- R.sub.3, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are hydrogen,
- R.sub.4 is a radical of formula III ##STR64## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are as defined above, and R.sub.16 and R.sub.17 are each independently of the other hydrogen, CF.sub.3, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl or phenyl, or R.sub.16 and R.sub.17, together with the linking carbon atom, form a C.sub.5 -C.sub.8 cycloalkylidene ring which is unsubstituted or substituted by 1 to 3 C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl groups.
- 2. A compound according to claim 1, wherein, when n is 1, R.sub.1 is thienyl, unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkylthio, hydroxy, halogen, amino, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkylamino or di(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl)amino.
- 3. A compound according to claim 1, wherein
- R.sub.3, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are hydrogen, R.sub.4 is a radical of formula III,
- R.sub.16 and R.sub.17 are methyl groups or, together with the linking carbon atom, form a C.sub.5 -C.sub.8 -cycloalkylidene ring which is unsubstituted or substituted by 1 to 3 C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl groups.
- 4. A compound according to claim 1, wherein
- R.sub.2 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl,
- R.sub.3 is hydrogen,
- R.sub.4 is a radical of formula III,
- R.sub.5 is hydrogen, and
- R.sub.16 and R.sub.17, together with the linking carbon atoms, form a cyclohexylidene ring.
- 5. A composition comprising
- a) an organic material which is susceptible to oxidative, thermal or light-induced degradation, and
- b) at least one compound of formula I according to claim 1.
- 6. A composition according to claim 5, wherein component (a) is selected from the group consisting of a lubricant, a hydraulic fluid, a metal processing fluid and a natural, semisynthetic of synthetic polymer.
- 7. A composition according to claim 5, wherein component (a) is a lubricant of the series of the mineral oils, the synthetic oils or a mixture thereof.
- 8. A composition according to claim 5, wherein component (a) is a synthetic polymer.
- 9. A composition according to claim 5, wherein component (a) is a polyolefin.
- 10. A composition according to claim 5, wherein component (a) is polyethylene or polypropylene.
- 11. A composition according to claim 5, which contains component (b) in an amount of 0.0005 to 5% by weight, based on the weight of component a).
- 12. A composition according to claim 5, which comprises further additives in addition to components (a) and (b).
- 13. A composition according to claim 12, which comprises as further additives phenolic antioxidants, light stabilisers and/or processing stabilisers.
- 14. A composition according to claim 13, which comprises as further additive at least one compound of the organic phosphite or phosphonite type.
- 15. A process for stabilising an organic material against oxidative, thermal or light-induced degradation, which comprises incorporating therein or applying thereto at least one compound of formula I as defined in claim 1.
