Claims
- 1. A compound having the structure: ##STR2##
- 2. A process for the production of 3-fluoro-3-nitro oxetane comprised of the steps of; reacting 2-fluoro-2-nitro propanediol dissolved in pyridine with trifluoro methane sulfonic anhydride dissolved in ether at a temperature just below 26.degree. C. for about 16 hours to form a monotriflate and reacting the monotriflate with a base.
- 3. A process according to claim 1 wherein the monotriflate is separated by means of chromatography prior to reacting it with a base.
- 4. A process according to claim 1 wherein the base is an alkali metal hydroxide.
- 5. A process according to claim 1 wherein the base is potassium hydroxide.
- 6. A process according to claim 1 wherein the base is 1,5 diazabicyclo (5.4.0) undec-5-ene (DBU).
