Claims
- 1. A method of treating vitiligo in a human afflicted with vitiligo which comprises administering an effective amount for treating vitiligo of 5-methoxy psoralen to said human.
- 2. The method of claim 1 which comprises orally administering said 5-methoxy psoralen.
- 3. The method of claim 2 which comprises administering said 5-methoxy psoralen in solid form.
- 4. The method of claim 3 wherein solid form is selected from a tablet or a capsule.
- 5. The method of claim 4 wherein said effective amount comprises a daily dose of between 40 mmg and 300 mmg of said 5-methoxy psoralen.
- 6. A method of treating vitiglio in a mammal afflicted with vitiligo which comprises applying a pharmaceutical formulation containing an effective amount of 5-methoxy psoralen for treating vitiligo to said mammal afflicted with psoriasis and thereafter irradiating the mammal with A ultraviolet rays.
- 7. The method of claim 6 wherein said effective amount comprises from about 100 to about 1000 ppm of 5-methoxy psoralen.
- 8. A method of claim 7 wherein said pharmaceutical formulation comprises a solution of 5-methoxy psoralen in oil.
- 9. A method of claim 8 wherein said pharmaceutical formulation comprises an aqueous emulsion containing 5-methoxy psoralen.
- 10. The method of claim 6 wherein said pharmaceutical formulation comprises an ointment containing 5-methoxy psoralen.
- 11. The method of claim 6 which comprises exposing the vitiligo areas of said mammal to irradiation with A ultraviolet rays.
- 12. A method of treating vitiligo in a mammal afflicted with vitiligo which comprises immersing said mammal afflicted with vitiligo in an aqueous solution containing up to 1500 mmg of 5-methoxy psoralen per 150 liters of water,
- withdrawing said mammal from said bath, and
- thereafter irradiating said mammal with A ultraviolet rays.
