Claims
- 1. An isolated polynucleotide comprising a nucleic acid sequence that is identical to SEQ ID NO:1, except that, over the entire length corresponding to SEQ ID NO:1, nn nucleotides are substituted, inserted or deleted, wherein nn satisfies the following expressionnn≦xn−(xn·y) wherein xn is the total number of nucleotides in SEQ ID NO:1, y is 0.95, and wherein any non-integer product of xn and y is rounded down to the nearest integer before subtracting the product from xn; wherein the nucleic acid sequence is not genomic DNA and wherein the nucleic acid sequence detects Staphylococcus aureus by hybridization.
- 2. A vector comprising the isolated polynucleotide of claim 1.
- 3. An isolated host cell comprising the vector of claim 2.
- 4. The isolated polynucleotide of claim 1, wherein y is 0.97.
- 5. The isolated polynucleotide of claim 1, wherein y is 0.99.
- 6. An isolated polynucleotide segment comprising SEQ ID NO:1.
- 7. A vector comprising the isolated polynucleotide of claim 6.
- 8. An isolated host cell comprising the vector of claim 7.
- 9. A process for producing a polypeptide comprising culturing the host cell of claim 8 to produce a polypeptide, wherein the polypeptide comprises SEQ ID NO:2.
- 10. An isolated polynucleotide, comprising a nucleic acid sequence which hybridizes to the full complement of SEQ ID NO:1, wherein the hybridization conditions include incubation at 42° C. in a solution comprising: 50% formamide, 5×SSC (150 mM NaCl, 15 mM trisodium citrate), 50 mM sodium phosphate (pH7.6), 5×Denhardt's solution, 10% dextran sulfate, and 20 micrograms/ml denatured, sheared salmon sperm DNA, followed by washing in 0.1×SSC at 65° C.; and, wherein the nucleic acid sequence is identical to SEQ ID NO:1, except that, over the entire length corresponding to SEQ ID NO:1, nn nucleotides are substituted, inserted or deleted, wherein nn satisfies the following expressionnn≦xn−(xn·y) wherein xn is the total number of nucleotides in SEQ ID NO:1, y is 0.95, and wherein any non-integer product of nx and y is rounded down to the nearest integer before subtracting the product from xn; wherein the nucleic acid sequence is not genomic DNA and wherein the nucleic acid sequence detects Staphylococcus aureus by hybridization.
- 11. The isolated polynucleotide of claim 10, wherein y is 0.97.
- 12. An isolated polynucleotide comprising a nucleic acid sequence, wherein the nucleic acid sequence encodes a polypeptide comprising SEQ ID NO:2, wherein the nucleic acid sequence is not genomic DNA.
- 13. A vector comprising the isolated polynucleotide of claim 12.
- 14. An isolated host cell comprising the vector of claim 13.
- 15. A process for producing a polypeptide comprising culturing the host cell of claim 14 to produce the polypeptide, wherein the polypeptide comprises SEQ ID NO:2.
- 16. An isolated polynucleotide comprising a nucleic acid sequence, wherein the nucleic acid sequence encodes a polypeptide consisting of SEQ ID NO:2, wherein the nucleic acid-sequence is not genomic DNA.
- 17. A vector comprising the isolated polynucleotide of claim 16.
- 18. An isolated host cell comprising the vector of claim 17.
- 19. A process for producing a polypeptide comprising culturing the host cell of claim 18 to produce the polypeptide, wherein the polypeptide consists of SEQ ID NO:2.
