Claims
- 1. A substituted pyridine of the formula ##STR233## in which B and E are C.sub.1-3 -alkyl of which one may be cyclopropyl, Y--Q--is ##STR234## R.sup.22 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, phenyl, benzyl or a physiologically tolerable metal or ammonium cation, and
- Z is F, CH.sub.3 or OCH.sub.3.
- 2. A substituted pyridine according to claim 1 of the formula ##STR235##
- 3. A substituted pyridine of the formula ##STR236## in which B and E are C.sub.1-3 -alkyl of which one may be cyclopropyl,
- W is Y--Q--CH.sub.2 or CN, Y--Q--is CH.sub.3 O--, (H.sub.3 C).sub.3 C(CH.sub.3).sub.2 --Si--O--, ##STR237## R.sup.22 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, phenyl, benzyl or a physiologically tolerable metal or ammonium cation, and
- Z is F, CH.sub.3 or OCH.sub.3.
- 4. A substituted pyridine according to claim 3 of the formula ##STR238##
- 5. A compound according to claim 3, wherein such compound is methyl 7-[5-cyano-2-(4-fluorophenyl)-4-isopropyl-6-methyl-pyrid-3-yl]-3,5-dihydroxy-hept-6-enoate of the formula ##STR239##
- 6. A composition for inhibiting cholesterol biosynthesis and HMB-CoA reductase comprising an amount effective therefor a compound according to claim 3 association with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent.
- 7. A method of treating a patient afflicted with hyperlipoproteinaemia, lipoproteinaemia or arteriosclerosis which comprises administering to said patient in need of such treatment, an effective amount of a compound according to claim 3.
- 8. A method of treating a patient afflicted with hyperlipoproteinaemia, lipoproteinaemia or arteriosclerosis which comprises administering to said patient in need of such treatment, an effective amount of a compound according to claim 5.
- 9. A compound according to claim 3, wherein such compound is methyl erythro-(E)-7-[2-(4-fluorophenyl)-4-isopropyl-5-methoxymethyl-6-methyl-pyrid-3-yl]-3,5-dihydroxy-hept-6-enoate of the formula ##STR240##
