The present invention relates to the technical field of pillows, and more particularly relates to a side sleeper pillow.
Snoring patients snore loudly at over 60 dB when they fall into deep sleep, and such snoring obstructs air exchange during normal breathing. 5% of snoring patients are suffered from obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome characterized by different degrees of breathing cessation during sleep and clinically reflected as severe snoring, suffocation, breathing cessation during night time, sleepwalking, enuresis and sleepiness during daytime, and also possibly accompanied by secondary cardiovascular and respiratory diseases such as high blood pressure, cardiac hypertrophy and arrhythmia. 30% of the patients are discovered with different degrees of chronic pulmonary damages upon lung checking. Other disorders like emotional depression and forgetfulness are also present.
Snoring patients are prone to airway blockage when they sleep on their back or on their belly. Sleeping on a side helps relaxed muscles to collapse on one side so that airway will not be so easily blocked. As such, snoring can be mitigated or eliminated. Therefore, being a side sleeper is a better option for a snoring patient, especially sleeping on the right side, to avoid the tongue, the soft palate and the uvula from sagging back and aggravating blockage of the upper airway. In view of the above, the present invention provides a side sleeper pillow.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a side sleeper pillow to solve the sleeping problems mentioned in the background. To achieve the object of the present invention, the present invention provides the following technical solutions:
A side sleeper pillow, comprising a pillow body; one side of the pillow body is provided with a protruding portion.

Further, the supporting piece has a shape of a cone frustum.
Further, a left side surface and a right side surface of the pillow body are each provided with a recess that is recessed inwardly towards a middle part of the pillow body.
Further, the middle part of the pillow body is recessed downwardly.
The present invention has the following beneficial advantages: The present invention has a simple structure and is easy to produce. By using the present invention, side sleeper can maintain a side sleeping posture and being prevented from flipping backward to sleep on the back. As such, snoring of the sleeper may be mitigated or eliminated.

As shown in
In the present embodiment, one side of a top surface of the pillow body 1 is protruded to form said protruding portion 2; during side sleeping, the neck and back head of the sleeper rest on a side surface of the protruding portion 2 so that the protruding portion 2 supports the neck and back head of the sleeper to prevent the sleeper from flipping backward to sleep on the back. As such, side sleeping posture is maintained to possibly mitigate or eliminate snoring of the sleeper.
Further, a filler cavity 201 is formed in the pillow body 1 and extends into the protruding portion 2. A supporting piece 3 is filled inside the filler cavity 201. Specifically, the protruding portion 2 is hollowed, and a portion of the pillow body 1 corresponding to the protruding portion 2 is also hollowed, a hollowed portion of the protruding portion 2 and a hollowed portion of the pillow body 1 are in communication with each other to define said filler cavity 201. The supporting piece 3 is filled into the filler cavity 201 through the hollowed portion of the pillow body 1 and extends into the hollowed portion of the protruding portion 2 so that the protruding portion 2 is structurally supported by the supporting piece 3 and so the protruding portion 2 can always maintain a protruding shape and will not collapse. Accordingly, this can maintain the side sleeping posture of the sleeper as described above.
Further, the protruding portion 2 has a shape of frustum. However, other shapes are possible according to other embodiments. The frustum occupies only a middle position of one side of the top surface of the pillow body 1 on a longitudinal axis passing through a center of the pillow body 1 to support the sleeper's head. Compared with configuring the entire one side of the top surface of the pillow body 1 as the protruding portion 2, such a design saves material cost and reduces the size and weight of the side sleeper pillow.
Further, the supporting piece 3 has a shape of a cone frustum. However, other shapes are possible according to other embodiments. The shape of cone frustum has a smooth curved side surface to further prevent bumping against the sleeper.
Further, a left side surface and a right side surface of the pillow body 1 are each provided with a recess 101. Specifically, each recess 101 is recessed inwardly towards a middle part of the pillow body to define an outwardly extending portion of the pillow body 1 at each of the left side surface and the right side surface. By orienting the side sleeper pillow to different directions, sleeper may sleep with a side sleeping posture with his/her head abutting against the protruding portion 2 at one orientation of the side sleeper pillow, or sleep on his/her belly at another orientation of the side sleeper pillow. When the sleeper sleeps on his/her belly, two arms of the sleepers may be placed inside the recess 101 at the left side surface of the pillow body 1 and the recess 101 at the right side surface of the pillow body 1 respectively so as to embrace the pillow body 1 during sleep to prevent pressure on the arms and thus increasing the comfort of sleeping on the belly. The side sleeper pillow is therefore functionally enriched by its possibility to allow different sleeping postures.
Further, the middle part of the pillow body 1 is recessed downwardly to fit with a shape of the sleeper's head. Specifically, this can maintain the sleeper's head in a stable position to prevent the sleeper's head from turning around, so that a side sleeping posture is stably maintained. Correspondingly, outer portions of the pillow body 1 surrounding the middle part of the pillow body 1 are slightly raised compared with the middle part so as to support the neck of the sleeper and increase the comfort of the cervical spine during sleep.
It should also be noted that different embodiments and the features mentioned therein can be freely combined to obtain some new embodiments given that contradictions do not exist.
Only the preferred embodiments of the present invention are described above. The described embodiments are not intended to limit the present invention in any sense. The scope of protection of the present invention should be determined by the claims. Although the present invention is disclosed with reference to the above preferred embodiments, the above description is not intended to limit the present invention. Changes or modifications intended to achieve the same technical effects may be made by any person skilled in the art to obtain other embodiments of equivalent technical effects based on the disclosure of the present invention and without departing from the technical scope of the present invention. Any non-inventive changes, modifications, or alternative configurations intended to achieve the same technical effects based on the essence of the technical solutions of the present invention without departing from the teachings of the present invention shall also fall within the scope of technical scheme of the present invention.
