Claims
- 1. A method of preparing a storage layer for aqueous fluids comprising
(a) forming a sprayable blend comprising one or more superabsorbent forming monomers, superabsorbent polymer particles, water, and one or more initiators; (b) applying said sprayable blend to a fibrous web; and (c) subjecting said sprayed fibrous web to conditions under which the superabsorbent forming monomers polymerize to form a storage layer for aqueous fluids.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the storage layer has a CRC equal or greater 9,000 g/m2.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the storage layer has a CRC equal or greater 10,000 g/m2.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein the storage layer has a CRC equal or greater 12,000 g/m2.
- 5. The method of claim 1 wherein the storage layer further comprises an odor control agent, an agent having a skin care effect, or a mixture thereof.
- 6. The method of claim 1 wherein the sprayable blend has a viscosity at least 20 mPas.
- 7. The method of claim 1 wherein the sprayable blend formed in step (a) further comprises a crosslinking agent.
- 8. The method of claim 1 wherein the sprayable blend formed in step (a) further comprises a softening agent.
- 9. The method of claim 1 wherein the sprayable blend formed in step (a) contains at least one odor control agent, an agent having a skin care effect, or a mixture thereof.
- 10. The method of claim 1 wherein the superabsorbent polymer particles of the sprayable blend formed in step (a) contain at least one odor control agent, an agent having a skin care effect, or a mixture thereof.
- 11. The method of claim 1 wherein the storage layer has a pH of from 2.0 to 7.5.
- 12. The method of claim 1 wherein the storage layer has a pH of from 4.0 to 6.5.
- 13. The method of claim 1 wherein the superabsorbent particles comprise a mixed bed ion exchange superabsorbent polymers or multidomain composites.
- 14. A storage layer prepared by the method of claim 1.
- 15. An absorbent article comprising a storage layer prepared by the method of claim 1.
- 16. The absorbent article of claim 15 wherein the storage layer is a component of a double-sided coated fibrous web, wherein the opposite side of the fibrous web is an acquisition layer.
