Claims
- 1. A combination of an absorbent binder coating and a substrate, the combination comprising:
an absorbent binder coating at least partially covering a substrate, wherein the absorbent binder coating includes about 15-99.8% by mass of monoethylenically unsaturated polymer units; about 0.1-20% by mass polyacrylate ester units that include an alkoxysilane functionality; and about 0.1-75% by mass polymer units selected from polyolefin glycol units, polyolefin oxide units, or combinations thereof.
- 2. The combination of claim 1, further comprising a mesh layer between the absorbent binder coating and the substrate.
- 3. The combination of claim 1, wherein the substrate comprises a person's skin.
- 4. The combination of claim 3, wherein the combination comprises an antiperspirant.
- 5. The combination of claim 1, wherein the substrate comprises an article of clothing.
- 6. The combination of claim 5, wherein the article of clothing is selected from the group consisting of a garment having an underarm area, a bra, a garment having a bib area, an undergarment, a disposable undergarment, a shoe, and a shoe insert.
- 7. An absorbent article comprising the combination of claim 1, wherein the substrate includes at least one of the group consisting of surge material, flap material, outer cover material, waistband material, and side panels.
- 8. The combination of claim 1, wherein the absorbent binder coating further comprises at least one of the group consisting of a fragrance additive, odor-absorbing particles, and an antimicrobial additive.
- 9. The combination of claim 1, wherein the substrate comprises at least one of the group consisting of a mirror, a camera, an electronic display, a windowsill, and a window frame.
- 10. The combination of claim 1, wherein the substrate comprises at least one of the group consisting of a catheter and a wire.
- 11. A wound dressing comprising the combination of claim 1.
- 12. The wound dressing of claim 11, wherein the substrate comprises at least one of the group consisting of a woven material, a nonwoven material, a foam material, and a film.
- 13. The wound dressing of claim 11, wherein the absorbent binder coating further comprises a wound healing agent.
- 14. A laminate comprising:
an absorbent binder coating at least partially covering a liquid-permeable layer, and a liquid-impermeable, vapor-permeable layer bonded to the liquid-permeable layer with the absorbent binder coating between the liquid-impermeable layer and the liquid-permeable layer, wherein the absorbent binder coating includes about 15-99.8% by mass of monoethylenically unsaturated polymer units; about 0.1-20% by mass polyacrylate ester units that include an alkoxysilane functionality; and about 0.1-75% by mass polymer units selected from polyolefin glycol units, polyolefin oxide units, or combinations thereof.
- 15. A mattress pad comprising the laminate of claim 14.
- 16. A personal care absorbent garment comprising the laminate of claim 14.
- 17. The absorbent garment of claim 16, wherein an outer cover of the absorbent garment comprises the laminate.
- 18. A medical garment comprising the laminate of claim 14.
- 19. A surgical drape comprising the laminate of claim 14.
- 20. The laminate of claim 14, wherein the liquid-permeable layer comprises a nonwoven web.
- 21. The laminate of claim 14, wherein the liquid-impermeable layer comprises a breathable film.
- 22. A packaging material, comprising:
a substrate at least partially coated with an absorbent binder coating, the absorbent binder coating including about 15-99.8% by mass of monoethylenically unsaturated polymer units; about 0.1-20% by mass polyacrylate ester units that include an alkoxysilane functionality; and about 0.1-75% by mass polymer units selected from polyolefin glycol units, polyolefin oxide units, or combinations thereof.
- 23. The packaging material of claim 22, wherein the substrate comprises a plastic film.
- 24. The packaging material of claim 22, wherein the substrate comprises carton stock.
- 25. The packaging material of claim 22, wherein the substrate comprises a foam.
- 26. The packaging material of claim 22, wherein the substrate comprises a food storage container.
- 27. The packaging material of claim 22, wherein the substrate comprises a produce storage bag.
- 28. The packaging material of claim 22, wherein the substrate comprises a shipping container.
- 29. A horticultural product, comprising:
an absorbent binder coating including about 15-99.8% by mass of monoethylenically unsaturated polymer units; about 0.1-20% by mass polyacrylate ester units that include an alkoxysilane functionality; and about 0.1-75% by mass polymer units selected from polyolefin glycol units, polyolefin oxide units, or combinations thereof.
- 30. The horticultural product of claim 29, wherein the absorbent binder coating further comprises a fertilizer.
- 31. The horticultural product of claim 30, wherein the absorbent binder coating bonds the fertilizer to form a plurality of fertilizer pellets.
- 32. The horticultural product of claim 29, further comprising a plurality of fertilizer pellets coated with the absorbent binder coating.
- 33. The horticultural product of claim 29, further comprising a plurality of seeds coated with the absorbent binder coating.
- 34. The horticultural product of claim 33, further comprising a substrate to which the coated seeds are applied.
- 35. The horticultural product of claim 29, wherein the absorbent binder coating further comprises auxin.
- 36. The horticultural product of claim 29, wherein the absorbent binder coating further comprises a fungicide.
- 37. The horticultural product of claim 29, wherein the absorbent binder coating further comprises a floral preservative.
