Claims
- 1. An absorbent, bioactive, highly wettable non-woven cellulosic medical substrate having incorporated thereon a non-leachable, bioactive amount of 3-(trimethoxysilyl)-propyloctadecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride present in an amount from about 0.15% to about 1.05% on the basis of the weight of the substrate; as a wettable hydrophilic coupling agent, an organosilicone terpolymer of the formula: ##STR3## present in an amount of from about 0.25% to about 1.25% on the basis of the weight of the substrate; and a tinctorial amount of a direct dye
- wherein the bioactive material and the hydrophilic coupling agent and the dye are substantively attached to the fibers of the cellulosic substrate, such that the bioactive compound, the hydrophilic coupling agent and the dye are substantially non-leachable from the substrate.
- 2. The substrate of claim 1 wherein the amount of bioactive compound is in the range of about 0.5 to about 1.0%.
- 3. The substrate of claim 1 or 2 wherein the amount of coupling agent is in the range of about 0.5 to about 1.0%.
