Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula: ##STR10## wherein A is an unsubstituted (C.sub.6 -C.sub.10) aryl group; or a (C.sub.6 -C.sub.10) aryl group substituted with up to three substituents selected from the group consisting of cyano, nitro, halogen, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkoxy, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylthio, acetoxy, trifluoromethyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylaminocarbonyl, di-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylaminocarbonyl, halo (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylsulfinyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylsulfonyl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.10) aryloxy, (C.sub.6 -C.sub.10) arylthio, arylsulfinyl, arylsulfonyl or (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylcarbonyl;
- R is a hydrogen atom or an unsubstituted (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkyl group;
- R.sup.1 is
- (a) an unsubstituted (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkyl group, or a (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkyl group substituted with one substituent selected from the group consisting of cyano, furyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkoxy, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylthio, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylsulfinyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylsulfonyl, (C.sub.3 -C.sub.6) alkenyloxy, (C.sub.3 -C.sub.6)alkenyloxycarbonyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylcarbonyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkoxycarbonyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)-alkylcarbonyloxy, mono- or di-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylaminocarbonyl, di-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylamino, (C.sub.6 -C.sub.10) aryloxy, (C.sub.6 -C.sub.10) arylthio, (C.sub.6 -C.sub.10) arylsulfinyl, (C.sub.6 -C.sub.10) arylsulfonyl, (C.sub.6 -C.sub.10) arylcarbonyl, (C.sub.6 -C.sub.10) aryloxycarbonyl, (C.sub.6 -C.sub.10) arylaminocarbonyl;
- (b) an unsubstituted (C.sub.3 -C.sub.8) cycloalkyl group;
- (c) an unsubstituted (C.sub.3 -C.sub.6) alkenyl group or a (C.sub.3 -C.sub.6) alkenyl group with up to two substituents selected from the group consisting of cyano, halogen, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkoxycarbonyl, and an unsubstituted (C.sub.6 -C.sub.10) aryl group or a (C.sub.6 -C.sub.10) aryl group substituted with up to three substituents selected from the group consisting of cyano, nitro, halogen, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkoxy, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylthio, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylaminocarbonyl, di-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylaminocarbonyl, and halo (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkyl;
- (d) an unsubstituted (C.sub.3 -C.sub.6) alkynyl group;
- (e) an unsubstituted aralkyl group of up to 11 carbon atoms, or an aralkyl group of up to 11 carbon atoms the aryl portion of which is substituted with up to three substituents selected from the group consisting of cyano, nitro, halogen, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkoxy, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylthio, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylaminocarbonyl, di-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylaminocarbonyl and halo (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkyl;
- R.sup.2 is
- (a) (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkylthio;
- (b) (C.sub.6 -C.sub.10) aryloxy; or
- (c) a group of the formula NZ'Z" wherein Z' is hydrogen, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkyl, Z" is hydrogen or (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkyl; or (C.sub.3 -C.sub.6) alkenyl, di(C.sub.1 -C.sub.3)alkyl amino, 2-ethylthioethyl 2-methoxyethyl or (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkoxycarbonylalkyl (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4);
- R.sup.3 is unsubstituted (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkyl; and
- X is oxygen or sulfur.
- 2. A compound according to claim 1 wherein A has the formula ##STR11## wherein Y, Y' and Y" are independently hydrogen, cyano, nitro, halogen, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkoxy, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkylthio, acetyl, trifluoromethyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkylsulfinyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkylsulfonyl and phenyloxy.
- 3. A compound according to claim 2 wherein R is hydrogen or unsubstituted (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkyl;
- R.sup.1 is
- (a) an unsubstituted (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkyl group, or a (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkyl group substituted with one substituent selected from the group consisting of cyano, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkoxy, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkylthio, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkylsulfinyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkylsulfonyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkylcarbonyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkoxycarbonyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkylcarbonyloxy, mono or di-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkylaminocarbonyl, di-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkylamino, (C.sub.3 -C.sub.4) alkenyloxy, (C.sub.3 -C.sub.4) alkenyloxycarbonyl, phenyloxy, phenylthio, phenylsulfinyl, phenylsulfonyl, phenycarbonyl, phenyloxycarbonyl, phenylcarbonyloxy, and phenylaminocarbonyl;
- (b) an unsubstituted (C.sub.3 -C.sub.6) cycloalkyl group;
- (c) an unsubstituted (C.sub.3 -C.sub.4) alkenyl group or a (C.sub.3 -C.sub.4) alkenyl group substituted with up to two substituents selected from the group consisting of cyano, halogen, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.3) alkoxycarbonyl, and an unsubstituted phenyl;
- (d) an unsubstituted (C.sub.3 -C.sub.4) alkynyl;
- (e) an unsubstituted benzyl or phenethyl group or a benzyl or phenethyl group substituted with up to three substituents selected from the group consisting of cyano, nitro, halogen, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkoxy, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkylthio, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkylaminocarbonyl, di-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkylaminocarbonyl and halo (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkyl;
- R.sup.3 is an unsubstituted (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkyl group; and
- X is oxygen.
- 4. A compound according to claim 3 wherein R is hydrogen.
- 5. A compound according to claim 4 wherein Y, Y' and Y" are independently hydrogen, cyano, chloro, fluoro, bromo, methyl, ethyl, methylthio, acetyl trifluoromethyl, methylsulfinyl, methylsulfonyl, phenoxy and methoxy.
- 6. A compound according to claim 5 wherein R.sup.2 is a group of the formula NZ'Z" wherein Z' is hydrogen; Z" is methyl or ethyl; and R.sup.3 is (C.sub.3 -C.sub.4) alkyl.
- 7. A compound according to claim 6 wherein Y, Y' and Y" are independently hydrogen, methyl, chloro, cyano, methylthio, phenoxy, acetyl.
- 8. A compound according to claim 7 wherein R.sup.2 is phenyoxy.
- 9. A compound according to claim 7 wherein R.sup.2 is (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkylthio.
- 10. A compound according to claim 7 wherein R.sup.2 is (C.sub.3 -C.sub.4) alkylthio.
- 11. A compound according to claim 3 having the following formula ##STR12## wherein R.sup.1 is a methyl group, an ethyl group, an unsubstituted (C.sub.5 -C.sub.7) cycloalkyl group, an unsubstituted (C.sub.3 -C.sub.4) alkenyl group, an unsubstituted (C.sub.3 -C.sub.4) alkynyl group, a benzyl group; or a (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkyl group substituted with 2-methoxyethyl, 2-methylthioethyl, 2(ethoxycarbonyl)ethyl, or 1-(ethoxycarbonyl)ethyl;
- R.sup.3 is a (C.sub.3 -C.sub.4) alkyl group;
- Z' is a hydrogen atom;
- Z" is a methyl group or an ethyl group; and
- Y and Y' are independently hydrogen, methyl, chloro, cyano, methoxy, methylthio, acetyl or phenoxy.
- 12. A compound according to claim 11 having the formula ##STR13## wherein R.sup.3 is C.sub.3 H.sub.7 -n, C.sub.4 H.sub.9 -sec, or C.sub.4 H.sub.9 -iso.
- 13. A compound according to claim 11 having the formula ##STR14##

- 19. A compound according to claim 1 wherein R.sup.2 is a group of the formula NZ'Z" wherein
- Z' is hydrogen or (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkyl, and
- Z" is hydrogen, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6) alkyl or (C.sub.3 -C.sub.6) alkenyl.
- 20. A pesticidal composition comprising a pesticidally effective amount of a compound according to any of claims 2 to 16 and an agronomically acceptable carrier.
- 21. A method of controlling pests which comprises applying directly to the pests, to the loci to be freed of or protected from attack by such pests, or to another substrate or pesticidally effective amount of a composition of claim 20.
- 22. A method for controlling pests in plants through systemic pesticidal action which comprises applying a pesticidally effective amount of a composition of claim 20 to the growth medium.
- 23. A substrate prepared by the method of claim 21.
- 24. A method according to claim 21 wherein the pests are phytopathogenic fungi.
- 25. A method according to claim 21 wherein the pests are acarids.
- 26. A method according to claim 21 wherein the pests are insects.
- 27. A method according to claim 21 wherein the pests are nematodes.
