- 1. reading said macro indicia on said card;
- 2. responsive to said reading, selecting the corresponding micropattern from said bank corresponding to said indicia; and
- 3. comparing the micropatterns on said card with the selected micropattern in said bank, wherein the micropattern carried by said card is a series of magnetic spots with the additional step of changing the pattern on the card and in the bank each time the card is presented.
- 7. In an access control method for selectively controlling access on presentation and authentication of a control card to a system comprising:
- a. a bank containing a plurality of unique authenticating master coded micropatterns of micro altered areas of a web and a corresponding plurality of macropatterns of machine readable indicia, each of said indicia corresponding to one of said micropatterns, each of said indicia adapted to be used as an index to select the corresponding one of said micropatterns; and
- b. a plurality of control cards, each control card having at least one of said plurality of machine readable macro indicia and the corresponding micropattern of micro altered areas;
- the method of authenticating said control card comprising the steps of:
- 1. reading said macro indicia on said card;
- 2. responsive to said reading, selecting the corresponding micropattern from said bank corresponding to said indicia; and
- 3. comparing the micropatterns on said card with the selected micropattern in said bank; and
- 4. changing the pattern on the card and in the bank each time the card is presented, whereby the pattern is continually being changed from one to another unique bit pattern thereby precluding the unauthorized use of a facsimile unless presented before the next authorized use of the card.
- 8. In an access control system for selectively controlling access on presentation and authentication of a control card, said control card comprising:
- 1. card means,
- 2. a unique coded micropattern of microaltered areas on said card means,
