Claims
- 1. The method of formulating a composition for inhibiting the growth of microorganisms in and on wall surfaces within a processing facility for dairy products which comprises formulating an aqueous film-forming composition for application to said wall surfaces and wherein the method comprises the following steps:
- (a) preparing a composition consisting essentially of the following formulation:
- ______________________________________Ingredient Weight______________________________________Carboxymethylcellulose 3.5 poundsPotassium sorbate 1.5 poundsWater 94.8 pounds______________________________________
- and thereafter adding glacial acetic acid in an amount ranging from between 0.1% and 0.5% by weight of the composition and sufficient to reduce the pH to a level of between about 5 and below 5.5.
- 2. The method as defined in claim 1 being particularly characterized in that the glacial acetic acid is added in an amount sufficient to reduce the pH to about 5 and wherein the formulation is free of other components.
