- 1. A measurement system in which the voltage to be measured may suddenly rise in potential to the multimegavolt level from a relatively low initial voltage level; a voltage controlled oscillator having an input connected to the voltage to be measured; the output of the voltage controlled oscillator being a frequency which is proportional to the voltage to be measured; an acoustical transmitter having an input connected to the output of the oscillator and having an output which has an acoustical signal thereon; an acoustical waveguide connected to the output of said acoustical transmitter 50 as to electrically isolate and transmit the acoustical signal to a remote location; a measuring device connected to said acoustical waveguide so as to convert the acoustical signal back to a representation of the voltage to be measured; a power system connected to the voltage control oscillator; and both the power system and the voltage control oscillator being located in the environment of the voltage to be measured.
