Claims
- 1. An acoustically generated image of an imaged object selectively generated with only an acoustic signal component resulting from diffraction of an original acoustic signal from the imaged object or generated with only an acoustic signal component resulting from transmission of the original acoustic signal through the object.
- 2. The image of claim 1 wherein the original acoustic signal is an ultrasonic acoustic signal.
- 3. The image of claim 1 wherein the acoustically generated image is a holographic image.
- 4. The image of claim 3 wherein the holographic image is generated by the interaction of light and an acoustic interference pattern.
- 5. The image of claim 4 wherein the light is a laser light interacting with the acoustic interference pattern.
- 6. The image of claim 4 wherein the acoustic interference pattern is formed at an air-water interface and the light is directed thereon.
- 7. The image of claim 1 wherein the image is selectively generated with only the acoustic signal component resulting from diffraction contains only selected spatial frequency components
- 8. An acoustically generated image of an imaged object wherein an original acoustic signal is directed onto the object and interacts therewith to produce an object acoustic signal comprising a diffracted component and an undiffracted component, the acoustically generated image being selectively generated with only the diffracted component or generated with only the undiffracted component.
- 9. The image of claim 8 wherein the original acoustic signal is an ultrasonic acoustic signal.
- 10. The image of claim 8 wherein the acoustically generated image is a holographic image.
- 11. The image of claim 8 wherein the imaged is selectively generated with only the diffracted component and contains only selected spatial frequency components of the diffracted component.
