Abstract
A display includes a display area where the pixels are arranged in a first sub-matrix and a second sub-matrix positioned adjacent to each other. The sub-matrices have respective individual gate drivers and a common source driver. Each column of pixels in the first sub-matrix is interconnected with a corresponding column of pixels in the second sub-matrix, and the source lines share a single date output of the common source driver.

Claims
  • 1. An active matrix display device comprising: a common substrate having a matrix of pixels, said matrix comprising a first sub-matrix and a second sub-matrix positioned adjacent to each other, wherein a first set of gate lines connecting rows of pixels in the first sub-matrix is connected to a first gate driver and a second set of gate lines connecting rows of pixels in the second sub-matrix is connected to a second gate driver, and wherein a first set of source lines connecting columns of pixels in the first sub-matrix and a second set of source lines connecting columns of pixels in the second sub-matrix are connected to a common source driver, each source line in the first set being interconnected with a corresponding source line in the second set, said source line in the first set and said corresponding source line in the second set being connected to the same data output of the common source driver.
  • 2. The display device of claim 1, wherein a conductive trace continuously extends from said output of the source driver via said source line in the first set to said corresponding source line in the second set.
  • 3. The display device of claim 2, wherein the source lines of the first set and the second set are interconnected in reverse order.
  • 4. The display device of claim 1, wherein the first and second gate drivers are provided at opposite sides of the pixel matrix.
  • 5. A portable electronic device comprising a display device as claimed in claim 1.
