Claims
- 1. A method of forming electro-mechanical components from polyphenylene sulfide 40% glass fill, the method comprising:(a) providing a mold having an interior mold cavity for receiving polyphenylene sulfide 40% glass fill; (b) heating the mold to approximately 130° C.; (c) injecting a volume of molten polyphenylene sulfide 40% glass fill into the mold cavity; (d) cooling the polyphenylene sulfide 40% glass fill for approximately 45 seconds within the mold cavity, the polyphenylene sulfide 40% glass fill hardening to form a component; (e) ejecting the component from the mold cavity, and (f) heating the component to approximately 130° C. for at least 2 hours.
- 2. A method of forming a carriage assembly for a computer hard disk drive from polyphenylene sulfide 40% glass fill, the method comprising:(a) providing a mold having an interior mold cavity for receiving polyphenylene sulfide 40% glass fill; (b) heating the mold to approximately 130° C.; (c) injecting a volume of molten polyphenylene sulfide 40% glass fill into the mold cavity; (d) cooling the polyphenylene sulfide 40% glass fill for approximately 45 seconds within the mold cavity, the polyphenylene sulfide 40% glass fill hardening to form a body of the carriage assembly; (e) ejecting the body from the mold cavity; (f) heating the body to approximately 130° C. for at least 2 hours; and (g) mounting arms to the body, the arms receiving heads for use in disk drive operations.
