Claims
- 1) a device comprising:
a) an electrically non-conductive first solid support having an upper surface; b) a plurality of first electrodes positioned on said upper surface; c) an electrically non-conductive second solid support having a lower surface, positioned opposite to, and at a separation from, the upper surface of the first solid support, so that a gap is formed between said second and first solid supports: d) a second electrode positioned on said lower surface; e) an electrically non-conductive film means of electrical insulation of said first electrodes from electrically conductive medium, when said medium is present in said gap.
- 2) A device according to claim 1, further comprising:
f) an electrically non-conductive film means of electrical insulation of said second electrode from electrically conductive medium, when said medium is present in said gap.
- 3) A device comprising:
a) an electrically non-conductive first solid support having an upper surface; b) a plurality of first electrodes positioned on said upper surface; c) an electrically non-conductive second solid support having a lower surface, positioned opposite to, and at a separation from, the upper surface of the first solid support, so that a gap is formed between said second and first solid supports; d) a plurality of second electrodes positioned on said lower surface; e) an electrically non-conductive film means of electrical insulation of said first electrodes from electrically conductive medium, when said medium is present in said gap.
- 4) A device according to claim 3, farther comprising:
f) an electrically non-conductive film means of electrical insulation of said second electrodes from electrically conductive medium, when said medium is present in said gap.
- 5) A device according to claim 1, wherein said electrically non-conductive film is hydrophobic.
- 6) A device according to claim 2, wherein said electrically non-conductive film is hydrophobic.
- 7) A device according to claim 3, wherein said electrically non-conductive film is hydrophobic.
- 8) A device according to claim 4, wherein said electrically non-conductive film is hydrophobic.
- 9) A device according to claim 1, wherein said electrically non-conductive film is made hydrophobic by chemical surface modification.
- 10) A device according to claim 2, wherein said electrically non-conductive film is made hydrophobic by chemical surface modification.
- 11) A device according to claim 3, wherein said electrically non-conductive film is made hydrophobic by chemical surface modification.
- 12) A device according to claim 4, wherein said electrically non-conductive film is made hydrophobic by chemical surface modification.
- 13) A device according to claim 1, wherein substantial part of said gap is filled with a non-polar liquid.
- 14) A device according to claim 2, wherein substantial part of said gap is filled with a non-polar liquid.
- 15) A device according to claim 3, wherein substantial part of said gap is filled with a non-polar liquid.
- 16) A device according to claim 4, wherein substantial part of said gap is filled with a non-polar liquid.
