Claims
- 1. A method for defrosting an evaporator of a refrigeration sealed system, the system including a controller operatively coupled to an evaporator fan, a condenser fan and a defrost heater, said method comprising:
operating the sealed system until a selected time till defrost interval expires; initiating a defrost cycle when the time till defrost interval expires; and selectively operating the sealed system to raise a temperature of the evaporator while the defrost heater is inactivated.
- 2. A method for defrosting a refrigeration appliance including a freezer compartment and a sealed system including a controller and a compressor, an evaporator, a condenser, an evaporator fan and a condenser fan operatively coupled thereto, the method utilizing a defrost heater, said method comprising:
operating the sealed system until a selected time till defrost interval expires; initiating a defrost cycle when the time till defrost interval expires; operating the sealed system to prechill the refrigeration compartment; selectively operating the sealed system to raise a temperature of the evaporator; and energizing the defrost heater after selectively operating the sealed system to raise a temperature of the evaporator.
- 3. A method in accordance with claim 2 further comprising: defrosting the evaporator with the defrost heater; suspending operation of the sealed system for a predetermined dwell time; and activating the compressor and the condenser to lower a temperature of the evaporator.
- 4. A method for defrosting a household refrigeration appliance including a compressor and a defrost heater, said method comprising:
indicating by a controller that it is time for a defrost cycle; after said step of indicating, operating the compressor if the temperature of the appliance is greater than a set temperature; stopping the compressor when a temperature of the appliance is equal to or less than the set temperature; after said step of stopping, raising the temperature of the appliance while the defrost heater is inactivated.
- 5. The method for defrosting according to claim 4, further comprising:
after said step of raising the temperature, energizing the defrost heater; and pausing for a drip time after deenergizing the defrost heater before allowing the compressor to run.
- 6. A method for defrosting a household refrigeration appliance including a compressor, a refrigeration compartment and a defrost heater, said method comprising:
energizing the defrost heater followed by deenergizing the defrost heater; and pausing for a drip time following the deenergizing of the defrost heater before allowing the compressor to run.
- 7. The method for defrosting according to claim 6, further comprising a step of raising a temperature of the appliance before energizing the defrost heater.
