Claims
- 1. A method for providing motivation to a user of a training process which, when executed, presents stimuli to the user wherein the stimuli are designed primarily to improve a cognitive ability of the user and measures the cognitive ability of the user by comparison of responses of the user to the stimuli to predetermined correct responses, the method comprising:determining that the user has responded correctly to a first requisite number of stimuli presented by the training process; upon a condition in which the user has responded correctly to the first requisite number of stimuli presented by the training process, presenting to the user a reward animation in which one or more animated characters are shown to perform one or more activities; determining that the user has responded correctly to a second requisite number of additional stimuli presented by the training process; and upon a condition in which the user has responded correctly to the second requisite number of stimuli presented by the training process, presenting to the user a subsequent reward animation in which the one or more animated characters are shown to perform one or more subsequent activities.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the one or more animated characters have respective consistent personalities throughout the first-mentioned reward animation and the subsequent reward animation.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the one or more activities represented in the first-mentioned and subsequent reward animations are component animations of a composite animation having a consistent plot throughout.
- 4. A computer readable medium useful in association with a computer which includes a processor and a memory, the computer readable medium including computer instructions which are configured to cause the computer to provide motivation to a user of a training process which, when executed, presents stimuli to the user wherein the stimuli are designed primarily to improve a cognitive ability of the user and measures the cognitive ability of the user by comparison of responses of the user to the stimuli to predetermined correct responses by:determining that the user has responded correctly to a first requisite number of stimuli presented by the training process; upon a condition in which the user has responded correctly to the first requisite number of stimuli presented by the training process, presenting to the user a reward animation in which one or more animated characters are shown to perform one or more activities; determining that the user has responded correctly to a second requisite number of additional stimuli presented by the training process; and upon a condition in which the user has responded correctly to the second requisite number of stimuli presented by the training process, presenting to the user a subsequent reward animation in which the one or more animated characters are shown to perform one or more subsequent activities.
- 5. The computer readable medium of claim 4 wherein the one or more animated characters have respective consistent personalities throughout the first-mentioned reward animation and the subsequent reward animation.
- 6. The computer readable medium of claim 4 wherein the one or more activities represented in the first-mentioned and subsequent reward animations are component animations of a composite animation having a consistent plot throughout.
- 7. A computer system comprising:a processor; a memory operatively coupled to the processor; and a training module (i) which executes in the processor from the memory and (ii) which, when executed by the processor, causes the computer to provide motivation to a user of a training process which, when executed, presents stimuli to the user wherein the stimuli are designed primarily to improve a cognitive ability of the user and measures the cognitive ability of the user by comparison of responses of the user to the stimuli to predetermined correct responses by: determining that the user has responded correctly to a first requisite number of stimuli presented by the training process; upon a condition in which the user has responded correctly to the first requisite number of stimuli presented by the training process, presenting to the user a reward animation in which one or more animated characters are shown to perform one or more activities; determining that the user has responded correctly to a second requisite number of additional stimuli presented by the training process; and upon a condition in which the user has responded correctly to the second requisite number of stimuli presented by the training process, presenting to the user a subsequent reward animation in which the one or more animated characters are shown to perform one or more subsequent activities.
- 8. The computer system of claim 7 wherein the one or more animated characters have respective consistent personalities throughout the first-mentioned reward animation and the subsequent reward animation.
- 9. The computer system of claim 7 wherein the one or more activities represented in the first-mentioned and subsequent reward animations are component animations of a composite animation having a consistent plot throughout.
