1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to an electrical connector, and more particularly to an adaptor for connecting connectors with different interfaces.
2. Description of Related Art
USB connectors are widely used in digital products including computer, digital camera, or portable communications terminals. With the development of the technology, the USB connector is updated from 2.0 version to 3.0 version and the corresponding transmission rate is updated from 480 Mbps up to 3.2 Gbps. Nowadays, portable devices such as laptops and cellular phones are designed more and more compact to facilitate the storage and carrying thereof. Therefore, Micro-USB connectors are developed and are more compact when compared to the USB 3.0 connectors so that the Micro-USB 3.0 connectors may be easily assembled on the portable electronic devices.
Hence, it is desirable to provide a adaptor for connecting two electrical connectors with different USB 3.0 interfaces.
The present invention provides an adaptor, adaptor for connecting two electrical connectors with different interfaces, comprises a first connector, a second connector and a connecting means connecting the first connector and the second connector. The first connector comprises a first insulating housing and a plurality of first contacts received in the first insulating housing. The second connector comprises a second insulating housing and a plurality of second contacts received in the second insulating housing. The first connector comprises a pair of receiving openings. The first contacts comprise a first group of contacts and a second group of contacts. The first group of contacts and the second group of contacts are respectively received in the pair of receiving openings.

In the first embodiment, the second connector 20 comprises second contacts 21, a second insulating housing 23 receiving the second contacts 21, and a second metal shield 24 covering the second contacts 21 and the second insulating housing 23. The second metal shield 24 defines a receiving cavity 25. The second insulating housing 23 includes a tongue portion 231 extending within the receiving cavity 25. The second contacts 21 are partially assembled on the tongue portion 231 for electrically connecting with a complementary plug connector. In the present invention, the second connector 20 is a receptacle connector and is compliant with USB 3.0 standard.

As a whole, the present invention employs the adaptor 1, 2, which has Micro USB 3.0 interface connector 10, 50, to quickly connect the complementary Micro USB 3.0 connector and the complementary USB 3.0 connector.
