Claims
- 1. A form intermediate comprising:
a substantially quadrate substrate sheet having first and second surfaces, first and second longitudinal edges substantially parallel to each other, and first and second end edges substantially parallel to each other and substantially perpendicular to the first and second longitudinal edges; first and second longitudinal lines of weakness formed in the sheet substantially parallel and proximate to the first and second longitudinal edges, respectively, to define first and second removable margin strips; at least one fold line formed in the sheet substantially parallel to the first and second end edges, the at least one fold line dividing the sheet into sections on opposite sides thereof; and an adhesive pattern on the first and second surfaces, the adhesive pattern being configured and dimensioned in each of the removable margin strips both to seal the sections together and to substantially prevent significant cupping of the longitudinal edges and corner edge deflection.
- 2. A form intermediate as recited in claim 1 wherein the at least one fold line is a first fold line and a second fold line, the second fold line being spaced a distance from the first fold line.
- 3. A form intermediate as recited in claim 2 further comprising first and second traverse lines of weakness perpendicular to the first and second longitudinal lines of weakness and positioned between the first and second fold lines to define a removable panel.
- 4. A form intermediate as recited in claim 3 further comprising third and fourth traverse lines of weakness substantially parallel to the first and second end edges, wherein the third traverse line of weakness is provided adjacent the first end edge and the fourth traverse line of weakness is provided adjacent the second fold line.
- 5. A form intermediate as recited in claim 4 further comprising, on the first surface, a first at least one traverse adhesive strip provided between the first end edge and the third traverse line of weakness, and a second at least one traverse adhesive strip provided between the second traverse line of weakness and the second fold line such that the first at least one traverse adhesive strip contacts the second at least one adhesive strip when the sheet is folded about the first fold line.
- 6. A form intermediate as recited in claim 5 further comprising, on the second surface, a third at least one traverse adhesive strip provided between the first fold line and the first traverse line of weakness, and a fourth at least one traverse adhesive strip provided adjacent the second end edge such that the third at least one traverse adhesive strip contacts the fourth at least one traverse adhesive strip when the sheet is folded about the second fold line.
- 7. A form intermediate comprising:
a substantially quadrate substrate sheet having first and second surfaces, first and second longitudinal edges substantially parallel to each other, and first and second end edges substantially parallel to each other and substantially perpendicular to the first and second longitudinal edges; first and second longitudinal lines of weakness formed in the sheet substantially parallel and proximate to the first and second longitudinal edges, respectively, to define first and second removable margin strips; first and second fold lines formed in the sheet substantially parallel to the first and second end edges, the fold lines are spaced a distance from each other to divide the sheet into first, second, and third sections of substantially the same size, the second section between the first and third sections; and an adhesive pattern on the first and second surfaces, the adhesive pattern being configured and dimensioned in each of the removable margin strips both to seal the sections together and to substantially prevent significant cupping of the longitudinal edges and corner edge deflection.
- 8. A form intermediate mailer made by Z-folding the form intermediate of claim 7 about the first and second fold lines and sealing the folded form intermediate with the adhesive pattern.
- 9. A form intermediate as recited in claim 7 wherein the first and second fold lines are lines of weakness.
- 10. A form intermediate as recited in claim 7 further comprising confidentiality screening provided on the second surface of the sheet on at least the first and third sections.
- 11. A form intermediate as recited in claim 10 further comprising anti-fraud protection patterns provided on the first surface of the sheet on at least the second section.
- 12. A form intermediate as recited in claim 11 further comprising check endorsing indica on the second surface of the sheet on the second section.
- 13. A form intermediate as recited in claim 7 wherein the adhesive pattern comprises long and short strips of adhesive provided offset from each other and extending substantially parallel to the first and second longitudinal edges in order to bring into contact, when sealed, the first surfaces of the first and second sections and the second surfaces of the second and third sections, the long strips of adhesive in the second section extending longitudinally for the majority of the distance between the first and second fold lines.
- 14. A form intermediate as recited in claim 7 wherein the adhesive pattern includes an adhesive block adjacent each corner of the intermediate in the removable margin strips, each adhesive block being positioned on a surface opposite that of adhesive pattern at each corner, whereby cupping of the sheet by each block offsets cupping of the sheet by the adhesive pattern adjacent each corner.
- 15. A form intermediate suitable for use with a printer having at least one friction feeder and at least one retard surface, comprising:
a substantially quadrate sheet of paper having first and second surfaces, first and second end edges substantially parallel to each other, and first and second longitudinal edges substantially perpendicular to the first and second end edges and substantially parallel to each other; first and second lines of weakness formed in the sheet substantially parallel and proximate to the first and second longitudinal edges, respectively, to define first and second removable margin strips; first and second fold lines defined by the sheet substantially parallel to the first and second end edges, the fold lines being spaced apart and positioned to divide the sheet into first, second, and third sections; a first pattern of pressure sensitive adhesive in the first and second removable margin strips of the first and second sections on the first surface, the first pattern being configured and dimensioned of long adhesive strips and short adhesive strips offset from each other; a second pattern of pressure sensitive adhesive in the first and second removable margin strips of the second and third sections on the second surface, the second pattern being configured and dimensioned of long adhesive strips and short adhesive strips offset from each other, the long adhesive strips in the second section on both the first and second surfaces extending the majority of the distance between the first and second fold lines such that the form may be fed by the friction feeder without one of the first and second longitudinal edges being the leading edge being cupped toward the at least one retard surface; and a block of pressure sensitive adhesive adjacent each corner of the sheet in one of the margin strips on a surface opposite that on which adhesive from the first and second patterns of pressure sensitive adhesives are provided, the blocks of pressure sensitive adhesive on the first section being on the second side of the sheet and the blocks of pressure sensitive adhesive on the third section being on the side of the sheet, whereby the corners of the sheet are prevented from being deflected significantly downward or upward.
- 16. An adhesive pattern for a form intermediate intended to be fed through a printer having at least one friction feeder and at least one retard surface of a length, the form intermediate having a first surface, a second surface which faces the at least one retard surface, a leading longitudinal edge which interfaces with the friction feeder first, and at least one fold line substantially perpendicular to the leading longitudinal edge dividing the form intermediate into a plurality of panel sections, the adhesive pattern comprising:
at least one first adhesive strip which extends adjacent the leading longitudinal edge on the first surface a distance longer than the length of the at least one retard surface at least within the plurality of panels proximate the at least one retard surface such that a portion of the at least one first adhesive strip will pass over substantially the complete length of the at least one retard surface when the form intermediate is fed by the at least one friction feeder; and, at least one second adhesive strip which extends adjacent the leading longitudinal edge on the second surface a distance from the leading longitudinal edge inwards of the at least one first adhesive strip on the first surface at least within the plurality of panel sections proximate the at least one retard surface such that a portion of the at least one second adhesive strip will pass directly over substantially the complete length of the at least one retard surface without the leading longitudinal edge being cupped toward the at least one retard surface when the form intermediate is fed by the at least one friction feeder.
- 17. The adhesive pattern as recited in claim 16, further comprising:
at least one third adhesive strip which extends adjacent the leading edge on the first surface at least within the plurality of panel sections that are proximate the at least one retard surface, the at least one third adhesive strip is provided offset from the at least one first adhesive strip; and at least one fourth adhesive strip which extends adjacent the leading edge on the second surface at least within the plurality of panel sections that are proximate the at least one retard surface, the at least one fourth adhesive strip is provided offset from the at least one second adhesive strip.
- 18. The adhesive pattern as recited in claim 17, further comprising:
a block of adhesive provided adjacent each corner of the form intermediate on a surface opposite that on which adhesives are provided, whereby the corners of the sheet are substantially prevented from being deflected significantly downward or upward.
- 19. The adhesive pattern as recited in claim 18, wherein the block of adhesive does not align with another adhesive strip to form a cohesive bond when the form intermediate is folded.
