Claims
- 1. Process for forming tetrazole polymers comprising adding substances of the formula ##STR4## where X is a member selected from the group consisting of Br, Cl, and I to a medium where base is present in a molar equivalent amount to said 5-(2-haloethyl) tetrazole or slightly less than a molar equivalent amount and then heating said medium at 50.degree.-100.degree. C for a minimum of 5 days to form resulting tetrazole polymers whose inherent viscosity at 25.degree. C is a number from about 0.03 - 0.36.
- 2. Process for forming tetrazole polymers according to claim 1 where X is chlorine.
- 3. Process according to claim 2 where the reaction medium is formed of potassium hydroxide in methyl alcohol.
- 4. Process according to claim 2 where the reaction medium is formed of sodium hydride in dimethylformamide.
- 5. Tetrazole polymers of the formula ##STR5## where X is a member selected from the group consisting of Br, Cl, or I, and .eta. is an integer such that the inherent viscosity of said tetrazole polymers at 25.degree. C is a number from about 0.03 - 0.36.
- 6. Tetrazole polymer according to claim 5 where X is Cl.
