Claims
- 1. An isolated polypeptide comprising amino acid residues 22-298 of SEQ ID NO:2.
- 2. The isolated polypeptide of claim 1 wherein the polypeptide comprises amino acid residues 21-298 SEQ ID NO:2.
- 3. The isolated polypeptide of claim 1 wherein the polypeptide comprises amino acid residues 20-298 SEQ ID NO:2.
- 4. The isolated polypeptide of claim 1 wherein the polypeptide is SEQ ID NO:2.
- 5. The isolated polypeptide of claim 1 wherein the polypeptide is covalently linked at the amino or carboxyl terminus to a moiety selected from the group consisting of affinity tags, toxins, radionucleotides, enzymes and fluorophores.
- 6. An antibody or antibody fragment that specifically binds to a polypeptide of claim 1.
- 7. The antibody of claim 6, wherein the antibody is selected from the group consisting of a polyclonal antibody, a murine monoclonal antibody, a humanized antibody derived from a murine monoclonal antibody, an antibody fragment, neutralizing antibody, and a human monoclonal antibody.
- 8. The antibody fragment of claim 6, wherein the antibody fragment is selected from the group consisting of F(ab′), F(ab), Fab′, Fab, Fv, scFv, and minimal recognition unit.
- 9. An anti-idiotype antibody comprising an anti-idiotype antibody that specifically binds to the antibody of claim 6.
- 10. A composition comprising:
an isolated polypeptide comprising amino acid residues 21-298 of SEQ ID NO:2; and a pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle.
- 11. The composition of claim 10 wherein composition comprises an oligomerized complex of the polypeptide.
- 12. The composition of claim 11 wherein the oligomerized complex comprises a trimer of the polypeptide.
- 13. The composition of claim 11 wherein the oligomerized complex comprises a hexamer of the polypeptide.
- 14. The composition of claim 11 wherein the oligomerized complex comprises a 18mer of the polypeptide.
- 15. The composition of claim 11 wherein the composition comprises a mixture of polypeptide trimers and polypeptide hexamers.
- 16. The composition of claim 15 whererin the mixture is about 90 percent hexamer and about 10 percent trimer.
- 17. A fusion protein comprising a first portion and a second portion joined by a peptide bond, wherein the first portion comprises a polypeptide comprising amino acid residues 21-298 of SEQ ID NO:2; and the second portion comprises another polypeptide.
- 18. The fusion protein of claim 17 wherein the second portion is an immuglobulin moiety comprising at least one constant region.
- 19. The fusion proteins of claim 17 wherein the second portion is another member of the adipocyte complement related protein family.
- 20. An isolated nucleic acid molecule capable of hybridizing to SEQ ID NO:1, or a complement thereof, under hybridization conditions of 50% formamide, 5×SSC (1×SSC: 0.15 M sodium chloride and 15 mM sodium citrate), 50 mM sodium phosphate (pH 7.6), 5× Denhardt's solution, and 2% (w/v) bovine serum albumin, 10% dextran sulfate, and 20 μg/ml denatured, sheared salmon sperm DNA at about 42° C. to about 70° C.
- 21. The nucleic acid molecule of claim 19 wherein the nucleic acid molecule encodes an isolated polypeptide comprising amino acid residues 22-298 of SEQ ID NO:2.
- 22. The nucleic acid molecule of claim 21 wherein the encoded polypeptide comprises amino acid residues 21-298 of SEQ ID NO:2.
- 23. The nucleic acid molecule of claim 21 wherein the encoded polypeptide comprises amino acid residues 20-298 of SEQ ID NO:2.
- 24. The nucleic acid molecule of claim 21 wherein encoded polypeptide comprises SEQ ID NO:2.
- 25. An isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence of nucleotides 143-973 of SEQ ID NO:1.
- 26. The isolated nucleic acid molecule of claim 25 wherein the nucleotide sequence comprises nucleotides 140-973 of SEQ ID NO:1.
- 27. The isolated nucleic acid molecule of claim 25 wherein the nucleotide sequence comprises nucleotides 137-973 of SEQ ID NO:1.
- 28. An isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding a fusion protein comprising a first portion and a second portion joined by a peptide bond, wherein the first portion comprises a polypeptide comprising amino acid residues 21-298 of SEQ ID NO:2; and the second portion comprises another polypeptide.
- 29. An expression vector comprising the following operably linked elements:
a transcription promoter; a DNA segment encoding a polypeptide of claim 1; and a transcription terminator.
- 30. A cultured cell into which has been introduced an expression vector of claim 29, wherein the cell expresses the polypeptide encoded by the DNA segment.
- 31. A method of producing a polypeptide comprising:
culturing a cell into which has been introduced an expression vector of claim 29, wherein the cell expresses the polypeptide encoded by the DNA segment; and recovering the expressed polypeptide.
