Claims
- 1. An adjustable guide arrangement for aligning a substrate on a movable base on a rotatable transport mechanism of a deposition machine comprising:
- a housing arranged on a frame member of the machine,
- a rotatable transport mechanism which supports and transports a substrate,
- guide pin support means for aligning a substrate on the movable base of the transport mechanism, including a plurality of vertically extending guide pins, means having horizontally elongated apertures for receiving said guide pins at a variety of horizontal locations,
- means for securing said guide pin means at a selected horizontally location within said elongated aperture means and for varying the lowermost location of said vertically extending guide pins relative to said apertured means and said rotatable transport mechanism,
- means for moving said guide pin support means from and towards the rotatable transport mechanism, said reciprocably actuated means being movable towards and away from the frame member of the machine by actuation of adjustment means in said housing, said adjustment means, comprising a threaded shaft adapted to move said reciprocably actuatable means with respect to said housing, when said threaded shaft is rotated therebetween.
- 2. An adjustable guide arrangement is recited in claim 1, wherein said housing is movable from side to side with respect to the frame member of the machine, by actuation of adjustment means arranged between said housing and the frame of said machine.
- 3. An adjustable guide arrangement as recited in claim 2, wherein said adjustment means comprises at least one threaded shaft adapted to move said housing with respect to a stanchion attached to said frame, so as to permit adjustment of the reciprocably actutable mechanism.
- 4. An adjustable guide arrangement as recited in claim 1, wherein said reciprocably actuatable means is a double acting piston and cylinder arrangement.
- 5. An adjustable guide arrangement as recited in claim 4, wherein a piston rod extends downwardly from said piston and cylinder arrangement, and said apertured means comprises guide bracket disposed on the lower end of said piston rod.
- 6. An adjustable guide arrangement, as recited in claim 5, wherein said guide bracket has an array of slots therein, said slots each adapted to receive a guide pin which extends therethrough.
- 7. An adjustable guide arrangement, as recited in claim 6, wherein said guide pins are movable within said slots, the lower ends of said pins being abuttably contactable with the movable base.
- 8. An adjustable guide arrangement, as recited in claim 6, wherein said guide pins are securable to said guide bracket.
- 9. An adjustable guide arrangement, as recited in claim 6, wherein said guide bracket has markings alongside said slots to permit re-setting of said pins to the same position in said slot.
- 10. An adjustable guide arrangement, as recited in claim 6, wherein said guide bracket has pins which extend fixedly through holes therein, said guide bracket being attachable and detachable onto the lower end of said piston rod.
- 11. An adjustable guide arrangement, as recited in claim 7, wherein said piston and cylinder arrangement is actuatable to withdraw said guide pins from said movable base when said transport mechanism is rotated.
- 12. A powder deposition machine comprising
- a base member for receiving a flexible substrate, said base adapted to be vertically displaced from an elevated position to a lowered position,
- pivotally displaceable means including a clamping flange,
- means for biasing said pivotally displaceable means so that said clamping flange will forcefully engage the top surface of said base member when said base member is located at said elevated position,
- said base member including means for displacing said pivotally displaceable means, as said base member is displaced from said elevated to said lowered position, to a position whereat said clamping flange is spaced from the top surface of said base member, and
- guide pin support means including
- a plurality of guide pins,
- means having apertures for receiving said guide pins at a variety of locations,
- means for securing said guide pins at a selected location within said aperture means and for varying the lowermost location of said guide pins relative to said apertured means and said rotatable transport mechanism,
- means for vertically displacing said guide pin support means from a first position to a second position adjacent the top surface of said base member when said base ' member is at said lowered position, and
- means for adjusting the side to side and front to back location of said guide pin support means.
- 13. A powder deposition machine according to claim 12, wherein said guide support means includes a pair of guide pins and said apertures comprises a pair of slots.
- 14. A powder deposition machine according to claim 12, wherein said means for displacing said guide pin support means comprises a cylinder.
- 15. A powder deposition machine according to claim 12, wherein said pivotally displaceable means includes a pair of lever arms each having an inwardly directed end having a rotatable wheel thereon and said base member includes a pair of tab means for engaging said rotatable wheels.
