This invention relates generally to the field of paint brushes and more specifically to an adjustable angle paint brush.
Paint brushes have been used for hundreds of years to paint surfaces including the interior or exterior surfaces of a home or office or the like. Paint brushes typically are comprised of a shaft portion which the user holds with his or her hand and a bristle portion that is used to retain and spread paint.
Occasionally a painter needs to paint a portion of a wall or the like that is above the reach of the arm of the user. In these cases the user must attach a paint brush onto an extension pole. Many painters simply tape the handle of the paint brush onto a pole to reach those hard to get at high places.
Unfortunately, the process of taping a paint brush to a pole is unreliable in that the brush my move slightly if the tape job is not secure. Additionally, the use of tape is time consuming and wastefully. Most importantly, the user does not have the option to easily adjust the angle of the paint brush to apply a neat and controlled coat of paint. Finally, the user does not have the ability to easily remove and replace the paint brush head to install specialty brush heads such as a head with a set of bristles that are cut at an angle so that the bristles can more easily and accurately apply a coat of paint at a corner joint where a wall meets a ceiling.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a way to paint in places that are not reachable by simple human arm extension.
Another object of the invention is to provide a way to paint at any angle while a paint brush is mounted on an extension arm.
Another object of the invention is to provide a way to remove and replace a paint brush from an extension arm.
Other objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following descriptions, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein, by way of illustration and example, an embodiment of the present invention is disclosed.
In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, there is disclosed adjustable angle paint brush comprising: an elongate extension pole, a U joint, a paint brush shaft and attached bristles, said U joint attached to said extension pole, said brush shaft bottom end pinned into the U of said U joint so that said brush shaft can pivot in an arcuate manner, and said brush shaft frictionally fit to the inner walls of said U portion so that said brush shaft can retain its position after the user adjusts said shaft to the desired location.
The drawings constitute a part of this specification and include exemplary embodiments to the invention, which may be embodied in various forms. It is to be understood that in some instances various aspects of the invention may be shown exaggerated or enlarged to facilitate an understanding of the invention.
