Claims
- 1. A circular insulation saw apparatus for cutting blocks of insulation material into pipe insulation members comprising:
- a. a frame with a material feed surface having first and second end portions and being supported by the frame, there being further provided a saw mount opening in the feed surface;
- b. a powered, cylindrical cutting blade movably mounted with respect to the feed surface at the opening;
- c. shaft means spanning the saw mount opening for at least partially providing support for the cutting blade;
- d. a blade carriage positioned near the opening comprising at least one radial strut extending from the shaft to the cutting blade, and the adjustable means comprises a blade support slideable along the radial strut; and
- e. adjustable means carried by the blade carriage for supporting the cutting blade in the opening so that the center of the circular blade substantially coincides with the planar surface, the adjustable means being movably supported to slide upon the carriage into a plurality of positions so that the carriage and adjustable means can accommodate cutting blades of varying diameters.
- 2. A circular insulation saw apparatus for cutting blocks of insulation material into pipe insulation members comprising:
- a. a frame with a material feed surface having first and second end portions and being supported by the frame, there being further provided a saw mount opening in the feed surface;
- b. a shaft spanning the saw mount opening;
- c. a powered, cylindrical cutting blade movably mounted with respect to the feed surface at the opening;
- d. a blade carriage attached to the frame at the opening, the carriage comprising at least in part a triangular frame having a base and at least a pair of struts extending upwardly from the base and attached at their lower end portions to opposite sides thereof, the upper end portions of the struts joining at their upward tip portions and being connected to the shaft;
- e. adjustable means carried by the blade carriage for supporting the cutting blade in the opening with the center of the circular blade coinciding during operation with the planar surface of the material feed surface, the adjustable means being movable on the carriage to accommodate cutting blades of varying diameters.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein said shaft attaches at its ends to said surface at said opening.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising router means on said feed surface between said first end portion and said cutting blade for pre-cutting a generally semicircular groove in a block of insulation material to be cut responsive to movement of the block of insulation material from said first end portion to said second end portion with the semicircular groove cut by said router means thereafter registering with said shaft during the subsequent cutting of the insulation block by said blade.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said adjustable means comprises at least in part a pair of support bars attached at their respective end portions in a slidable fashion to said carriage with said circular blade being attached during operation to the central portion of said bars, there being further provided set screw means on said bars for rigidly fixing said bars to a desired pre-selected position on said carriage.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the blade carriage includes a plurality of radial struts and a plurality of blade supports.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the adjustable means include a plurality of blade supports so that a plurality of cutting blades of different diameters can be simultaneously supported by the blade carriage.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the blade is powered by movement of the carriage.
