Abstract
An adjustable frame structure for golf bag includes a body frame unit including a bottom frame having a plurality of upwardly extending and equiangularly spaced plug holes and a top frame having a plurality of downwardly extending and equiangularly spaced plug holes, the plug holes of the bottom frame and the top frame each defining an axially extending base passageway and a plurality of shadow axial passageways and deep axial passageways alternatively arranged around and disposed in communication with the axially extending base passageway, and connection rods selectively insertable with respective opposite ends thereof into the axially extending base passageway and the shadow axial passageways or deep axial passageways of the plug holes to connect the bottom frame and top frame of the body frame unit at one of a series of different heights.
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to golf bags and more particularly, to a frame structure for golf bag, which allows adjustment of the height of the body frame unit thereof for making a golf bag at one of a series of different heights by: selectively inserting the ends of connection rods into shadow axial passageways or deep axial passageways of plug holes in the bottom frame and top frame of the body frame unit.

2. Description of the Related Art

A golf bag generally comprises a body frame unit and a flexible covering surrounding the body frame unit. The body frame unit comprises a bottom frame, a top frame, and a plurality of connection rods connected between the bottom frame and the top frame. After connection of the connection rods between the bottom frame and the top frame, the height of the body frame unit is fixed and not adjustable. If the length of the flexible covering is shorter than the height of the assembled body frame unit, the connection rods must be detached from the bottom frame and the top frame and properly cut and then connected to the bottom frame and the top frame to join them together. If the length of the flexible cover is longer than the height of the assembled body frame unit, the connection rods must be detached from the bottom frame and the top frame, and relatively longer connection rods must be used to substitute for the original connection rods and then connected to the bottom frame and the top frame to join bottom frame and the top frame together. This adjustment method is complicated, wasting much time and labor.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring to FIGS. 1-4, an adjustable frame structure for golf bag in accordance with a first embodiment of the present invention is shown. The adjustable frame structure comprises a body frame unit 1 and a plurality of connection rods 4.

The body frame unit 1 comprises a bottom frame 11 and a top frame 12. The bottom frame 11 comprises a plurality of upwardly extending and equiangularly spaced plug holes 2. The top frame 12 comprises a plurality of downwardly extending and equiangularly spaced plug holes 3 corresponding to the plug holes 2 of the bottom frame 11. The plug holes 2;3 each define an axially extending base passageway 23;33, a plurality of shadow axial passageways 21;31 and deep axial passageways 22;32 alternatively arranged around and disposed in communication with the axially extending base passageway 23;33, a plurality of first stop edges 211;311 respectively disposed at an inner side of each of the shadow axial passageways 21;31, a second stop edge 221;321 disposed at an inner side of the axially extending base passageway 23;33 and deep axial passageways 22;32. In this embodiment, the combined cross section of the axially extending base passageway 23;33 and the deep axial passageways 22;32 has a triangular shape. The depth of the shadow axial passageways 21;31 is shorter than the depth of the deep axial passageways 22;32.

Each connection rod 4 defines a plurality of peripheral portions 41 and corner portions 42. The number of the corner portions 42 is equal to the number of the shadow axial passageways 21;31. In this embodiment, the connection rods 4 have a triangular cross section that is same as the combined cross section of the axially extending base passageway 23;33 and the deep axial passageways 22;32.

Referring to FIG. 8 and FIGS. 1-5, when assembling the adjustable frame structure, insert the two opposite ends of each of the connection rods 4 into the respective plug holes 2;3 of the bottom frame 11 and top frame 12 of the body frame unit 1. At this time, the user adjust the angular position of each connection rod 4 to let each connection rod 4 be inserted into the shadow axial passageways 21;31 or the deep axial passageways 22;32. Referring to FIGS. 5 and 6, if the user selects to aim each connection rod 4 at the deep axial passageways 22;32 of the plug holes 2;3, the peripheral portions 41 of the two opposite ends of each of the connection rods 4 are respectively inserted into the axially extending base passageway 23;33 of the plug holes 2;3, and the corner portions 42 of the two opposite ends of each of the connection rods 4 are respectively inserted into the deep axial passageways 22;32 of the plug holes 2;3 and stopped against the respective second stop edges 221;321. Referring to FIGS. 7 and 8, if the user selects to aim each connection rod 4 at the shadow axial passageways 21;31 of the plug holes 2;3, the peripherals 41 of the two opposite ends of each of the connection rods 4 are respectively inserted into the axially extending base passageway 23;33 of the plug holes 2;3, and the corner portions 42 of the two opposite ends of each of the connection rods 4 are respectively inserted into the shadow axial passageways 21;31 of the plug holes 2;3 and stopped against the respective first stop edges 211;311. Because the depth of the shadow axial passageways 21;31 is shorter than the depth of the deep axial passageways 22;32, the user can shorten the distance between the bottom frame 11 and top frame 12 of the body frame unit 1 by inserting the opposite ends of the connection rods 4 into the shadow axial passageways 21;31 of the plug holes 2;3, or extend the distance between the bottom frame 11 and top frame 12 of the body frame unit 1 by inserting the opposite ends of the connection rods 4 into the deep axial passageways 22;32 of the plug holes 2;3.

Referring to FIGS. 9-11, an adjustable frame structure for golf bag in accordance with a second embodiment of the present invention is shown. This second embodiment is substantially similar to the aforesaid first embodiment with the exception that the combined cross section of the shadow axial passageways 51;61 and axially extending base passageway 53;63 of the plug holes 5;6 in the bottom frame 11 and top frame 12 of the body frame unit 1 have an oval shape; the combined cross section of the deep axial passageways 52;62 and axially extending base passageway 53;63 of the plug holes 5;6 in the bottom frame 11 and top frame 12 of the body frame unit 1 have an oval shape; the connection rods 7 have an oval cross section same as the combined oval cross section of the shadow axial passageways 51;61 and axially extending base passageway 53;63 of the plug holes 5;6 in the bottom frame 11 and top frame 12 of the body frame unit 1 as well as the combined oval cross section of the deep axial passageways 52;62 and axially extending base passageway 53;63 of the plug holes 5;6; each connection rod 7 comprises a first rod member 71, a second rod member 72, and a pivot pin 73 that has its one end fixedly and axially connected to one end of one of the first rod member 71 and the second rod member 72 and its other end rotatably coupled to one end of the other of the first rod member 71 and the second rod member 72; the first rod member 71 defines two opposite first peripheral portions 711 and two opposite first corner portions 712; the second rod member 72 defines two opposite second peripheral portions 721 and two opposite second corner portions 722. By selectively inserting the first peripheral portions 711 and first corner portions 712 of the first rod member 71 into the shadow axial passageways 51 and axially extending base passageway 53 of the plug holes 5 in the bottom frame 11 of the body frame unit 1 or the deep axial passageways 52 and axially extending base passageway 53 of the plug holes 5 in the bottom frame 11 of the body frame unit 1 and selectively inserting the second peripheral portions 721 and second corner portions 722 of the second rod member 72 into the shadow axial passageways 61 and axially extending base passageway 63 of the plug holes 6 in the top frame 16 of the body frame unit 1 or the deep axial passageways 62 and axially extending base passageway 63 of the plug holes 6 in the top frame 12 of the body frame unit 1, the bottom frame 11 and top frame 12 of the body frame unit 1 can be connected together by the connection rods 7 at one of multiple heights.
