The present invention relates to an adjustable furniture cover. More specifically, the present invention provides a solution to the problem of securely and effectively covering furniture.
Furniture routinely needs to be relocated, stored or transported. For example, when an individual moves to a different residence, he or she will need to package their furniture in order to take it with them. The relocation process is already made more difficult with furniture, as furniture is heavy. Additionally, the risk of damaging furniture is extremely high when it is being relocated. Damage can occur from dropping the furniture, allowing items to fall onto the furniture, storing the furniture incorrectly on the transportation vessel, or by various weather elements that the furniture may be exposed to during the relocation process. Furniture may incur scratches or scrapes while moving through doorways or pathways where other objects may be present.
When furniture is stored, it can be exposed to dust, dirt and debris. When this occurs, the furniture needs to be cleaned before it can be used again. Additionally, stored furniture may be at risk for water damage, which can not only weaken the furniture structurally, but can also lead to the proliferation of mold or mildew upon the surfaces and padding of the furniture. This can be unsafe for the individuals utilizing the furniture.
Current solutions to the problems of unprotected or improperly protected furniture, such as the covering of furniture with large blankets, have proven to be ineffective at preventing damage to furniture. These methods also typically fail to protect the entirety of the surfaces of the furniture. Additionally, covering furniture with blankets is as time-consuming as it is ineffective. Shrink wrap is also used commonly, however, it is ineffective at protecting the furniture from scrapes and scratches. Furthermore, shrink wrap is not environmentally friendly and is not reusable. Moving blanks are also commonly utilized, but due to the dimensions of traditional furniture, numerous blankets are utilized, making this method inefficient and time-consuming.
Therefore, there is a defined need amongst the known methods and apparatuses for covering furniture for a device that more effectively and efficiently covers furniture for storage and transport.
In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of furniture covering and protection apparatuses now present in the prior art, the present invention provides an adjustable furniture cover wherein the same can be utilized for providing convenience for the user when covering and protecting furniture during storage or transportation.
The present system comprises a flexible body. The flexible body is dimensioned to cover a furniture piece, such as a chair, throne, couch, sofa or other piece of furniture. A first cord is disposed about a rear portion of the flexible body. A second cord is disposed around a perimeter edge of the flexible body. The first cord and the second cord are configured to secure the flexible body to the furniture piece on which the adjustable furniture cover is to be secured.
Although the characteristic features of this invention will be particularly pointed out in the claims, the invention itself and manner in which it may be made and used may be better understood after a review of the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein like numeral annotations are provided throughout.
Reference is made herein to the attached drawings. Like reference numerals are used throughout the drawings to depict like or similar elements of the adjustable furniture cover. The figures are intended for representative purposes only and should not be considered to be limiting in any respect.

In the illustrated embodiment, the flexible body 11 further comprises a transparent window 19. The transparent window 19 is configured to enable the user to view the furniture piece upon which the adjustable furniture cover 10 is installed without having to remove the adjustable furniture cover 10. In the specific embodiment, the transparent window 19 is placed within the seat portion 14 of the flexible body 11, corresponding to the backrest of the furniture piece, such as to show a proper view of the furniture piece underneath the adjustable furniture cover 10. The transparent widow 19 is of any suitable material for allowing visual access through the flexible body, such as clear plastic.
In the illustrated embodiment, the adjustable furniture cover 10 further comprises a securement strap 20. The securement strap 20 extends from a first side 21 of the flexible body 11 to a second side 22 of the flexible body 11. The securement strap 20 is configured to provide additional support and to further secure the adjustable furniture cover 10 to the furniture piece. As shown, the securement strap 20 extends through a pair of cavities defined on each side portion 15 of the flexible body 11. As such, the securement strap 20 can be wrapped around both the furniture piece and the flexible body 11. In alternate embodiments, the securement strap 20 may extend around the top and the bottom of the furniture piece and the flexible body 11. Furthermore, in the illustrated embodiment, the securement strap 20 comprises a securement strap fastener 35. The securement strap fastener 35 is configured to secure the securement strap 20 in a closed position at a desired tension level. The securement strap fastener 35 is of any suitable construction, such as a hook and loop fastener or a buckle fastener.

In some embodiments, the flexible body 11 further comprises a padding 31 incorporated therein. The padding 31 may be integrally disposed in the flexible body 11, such as between a pair of outer layers. Alternatively, the padding 31 may be placed upon an inner surface of the flexible body. In the illustrated embodiment, the padding 31 is disposed in diagonal strips across the entirety of the flexible body 11. The padding 31 is configured to provide additional support to the flexible body 11 such as to cushion the furniture piece stored therein. As such, any contact will be dampened by the padding 31 should an object fall, or otherwise come into contact with, the flexible body 11 preventing damage to the furniture piece. In other embodiments, at least one elastic band 37 is disposed on the flexible body 11. The elastic band 37 is configured to further secure the flexible body 11 to the furniture piece.
Additionally, in the illustrated embodiment, a plurality of scratch covers 38 are disposed on a bottom surface of each pocket of the plurality of pockets 29. The plurality of scratch covers 38 are made of a durable material and are configured to prevent damage to the legs of the furniture piece. In the illustrated embodiment, the plurality of scratch covers 38 are round, however, in alternate embodiments, the plurality of scratch covers 38 are of any acceptable shape or dimension for providing security to the legs of the furniture piece.
In the illustrated embodiment, a reinforcement layer 36 is disposed proximally to the perimeter edge of the flexible body. The reinforcement layer 36 is configured to provide additional protection to the furniture piece and to the legs of the furniture piece. In the illustrated embodiment, the reinforcement layer 36 is made of the same material as the material of the flexible body. In alternate embodiments, the reinforcement layer 36 is made of a different material than the flexible body.
