The present invention generally relates to portable outdoor tables and particularly a portable outdoor table intended to be used in water.
While wading in lakes, ponds, bays, or any other body of water that is formed into the Earth, it is often desirable to have a table to gather around while standing in the shallow end of the water (sandbars, shoals, and the like). Such a table is securely mounted to a support pole above the water and is preferably adjustable in height to accommodate for the depth of water the people gather in. Furthermore, such a table is detachable and easily transported (portable).
Portable outdoor tables devised to be affixed to support poles are well known in the prior art. These devices are designed to provide a table for outdoor use that can be supported on uneven surfaces such as beaches. Examples of which are disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. Des. 364,048 (Winslow, Sr.), U.S. Pat. Des. No. 366,372 (Skarda, Jr.), U.S. Pat. Des. No. 858,160 (Flores), U.S. Pat. No. 2,607,648 (Metcalf), U.S. Pat. No. 2,799,543 (Tomasaselli), U.S. Pat. No. 3,624,732 (Bowden), U.S. Pat. No. 4,920,897 (Reed et al.), U.S. Pat. No. 5,197,394 (Schmidt), U.S. Pat. No. 5,762,004 (Vashon et al.), U.S. Pat. No. 6,487,977 (Williams), U.S. Pat. No. 6,705,240 (Block et al.), U.S. Pat. No. 9,220,337 (Wenzel), U.S. Pat. No. 9,706,834 (Taylor), U.S. Pat. No. 10,722,025 (Flores), (Kraker), 20,100,163,086 (Chavez), 20,140,102,337 (Ralph), and (Price). All of the above-mentioned patents are ground inserted tables of different variations and configurations. They consist of many different materials and have multiple purposes.
All of the above-mentioned patents include ground inserted tables. This is accomplished by different methods. Support poles that are inserted by auger are disclosed in U.S. Pat. Des. No. 366,372 (Skarda, Jr.), U.S. Pat. No. 4,920,897 (Reed et al.), U.S. Pat. No. 6,487,977 (Williams), 20,040,129,184 (Kraker), 20,140,102,337 (Ralph), and 20,190,053,588 (Price).
Many of the above-mentioned patents are portable, as disclosed in U.S. Pat. Des. No. 858,160 (Flores), U.S. Pat. No. 2,607,648 (Metcalf), U.S. Pat. No. 2,799,543 (Tomasaselli), U.S. Pat. No. 5,197,394 (Schmidt), U.S. Pat. No. 5,762,004 (Vashon et al.), U.S. Pat. No. 6,487,977 (Williams), U.S. Pat. No. 6,705,240 (Block et al.), U.S. Pat. No. 9,220,337 (Wenzel), U.S. Pat. No. 9,706,834 (Taylor), U.S. Pat. No. 10,722,025 (Flores), 20,100,163,086 (Chavez), 20,140,102,337 (Ralph), and (Price).
All of the above-mentioned patents are intended for on land use. None of the above inventions and patents, taken either singularly or in combination, is seen to disclose a portable outdoor table designed to be used in water.
The present invention is an adjustable height table for in-water use. The invention consists of a hollow support pole with an auger bottom and a mountable table top. A rod is inserted through a hole provided in the support pole and used as a wench to securely anchor the support pole in an upright position, by means of the auger, into the soil underwater. The mountable table top is affixed to the support pole at a suitable height that is above the water.
Accordingly, it is a principal object of the invention to provide a support pole that may be securely anchored into the soil beneath water so that a table top may be affixed in the water. The mountable table top is adjustable in height on the support pole so that it may be used in variable depths of water.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a gathering place for people in the water.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a place to store food, drinks, or other personal items above water. This is accomplished by the planar table top surface as well as cup holders and side rails to help keep the objects in place.
Another feature of the present invention is the hollow support pole acts as an umbrella holder to provide shade while in the water.
Furthermore, the table top mount on its bottom side is interchangeable so that it may be used on a variety of poles. The mount may be swapped out so that the table top can transfer from the ground inserted support pole to a boat pole, therefore, allowing the table top be used in water or on a boat. This interchangeable mounting system is comprised of two guide rails and a latch on the bottom of the table top. Variations of mounts may be adapted to the bottom of the table top by means of a hook that the table top latch may securely connect with.
Other features and variations of the present invention may include a portable carrying case and/or additional table tops, pole mounts, and interchangeable mounting systems.
Other objects and features of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description.
The present invention relates to a portable outdoor table intended to be used in water. The present invention as shown in

The mountable table top 10 provides a place for people to gather around in the water and store their food, drinks, and other personal items. This is accomplished by the planar surface of the mountable table top 10, as well as multiple cup holders 24 and side rails 26 around the perimeter of the mountable table top 10.
The hollow support pole 12 also provides means for an umbrella 16 to be inserted, thus providing shade for people to gather around in the water 40.
