Claims
- 1. A lower limb prosthesis comprising:
- a prosthetic foot; and
- an elongate rod having one end fixed to said foot and having a proximal end, said elongate rod being formed substantially of unidirectional long fibers embedded in a thermoplastic matrix, said fibers extending substantially parallel to the length of said rod,
- whereby said rod can absorb torsional loads.
- 2. The prosthesis of claim 1, wherein substantially all of said fibers have a length greater than one half inch.
- 3. The prosthesis of claim 1, wherein substantially all of said fibers are continuous fibers having a length equal to that of said rod.
