Claims
- 1. An adjustable support/pad that will retain any shape to which it is configured and which may be reshaped to serve another purpose comprising
at least one pliable coil spring in the shape of a flexible tube capable of being bent into multiple positions and holding any of said positions until it is again bent, and a deformable cushion encapsulating the coil spring in whatever configuration it is bent for protecting a surface to which the support/pad is applied.
- 2. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 1 wherein a cover encloses the material.
- 3. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 2 wherein the cover is removable.
- 4. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 1 wherein the coil spring is a flat metal spiral.
- 5. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 1 wherein the cushion is elongated and a strap is attached to an end of the cushion.
- 6. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 1 wherein straps are applied to each end of the cushion.
- 7. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 6 wherein fasteners are carried by the straps for connecting them to a load to be carried by the support/pad.
- 8. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 1 wherein rigid members are connected to at least one end of the spring and extending longitudinally therefrom.
- 9. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 5 wherein the cushion is tapered toward each end.
- 10. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 5 wherein each end of the cushion is connected to a handle for encircling the wrist of a person gripping the handle, for supporting the handle and anything connected to it.
- 11. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 10 wherein each end of the cushion is connected to the central portion of the handle, closely adjacent one another.
- 12. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 10 wherein the ends of the cushion are connected to the ends of the handle.
- 13. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 1 wherein the cushion is sized to encircle the sides and back of a neck of a person to serve as a neck brace.
- 14. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 1 wherein the support/pad has a pair of spaced apart pliable coil springs which extend through a substantial portion of the deformable cushion adjacent opposed marginal edges thereof.
- 15. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 14 wherein the deformable cushion forms a rectangular pad and the coil springs are substantially parallel to one another.
- 16. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 15 wherein the ends of the coil springs are joined together by a rigid member encapsulated within the cushion.
- 17. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 16 wherein the cushion is generally rectangular and the springs extend generally parallel to opposite sides of the cushion.
- 18. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 17 wherein a strap is attached to the cushion for encircling the backrest of a chair with the springs extending generally in a vertical direction enabling the support/pad to function as a backrest on a chair.
- 19. An adjustable support/pad that is pliable and retains any shape to which it is configured and which may be reshaped to serve another purpose comprising
at least one gooseneck wire capable of being bent into multiple positions and holding any of said positions until it is again bent, and a deformable material encapsulating the wire in whatever position it is bent for protecting a surface on which the support/pad is applied.
- 20. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 19 wherein the gooseneck is a pliable metal coil spring.
- 21. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 20 wherein the gooseneck wire includes a plurality of pliable coil springs.
- 22. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 1 wherein the deformable material is polyurethane.
- 23. An adjustable support/pad as described in claim 19 wherein the deformable material includes polyurethane.
