Claims
- 1. A method for installing a containment system for containing a zone of interest, the method comprising:
emplacing a plurality of substantially parallel tubes adjacent to a zone of interest; interlocking each substantially parallel tube with at least one adjacent substantially parallel tube so that the plurality of substantially parallel tubes collectively form a continuous barrier; and substantially filling the continuous barrier with barrier filler.
- 2. The method according to claim 1, further comprising the step of emplacing a plurality of walls adjacent to the zone of interest so that the plurality of walls cooperate with the continuous barrier to substantially contain the zone of interest.
- 3. The method according to claim 1, wherein the step of emplacing of the plurality of substantially parallel tubes further comprises excavating a plurality of parallel tunnels, each of the plurality of substantially parallel tubes being placed in a corresponding parallel tunnel.
- 4. The method according to claim 3, wherein the excavating of each corresponding parallel tunnel and the emplacing of the one of the plurality of substantially parallel tubes in the corresponding parallel tunnel occur substantially simultaneously.
- 5. The method according to claim 3, wherein the excavating of the plurality of substantially parallel tunnels proceeds serially.
- 6. The method according to claim 1, wherein the step of substantially filling the barrier comprises filling each of the plurality of substantially parallel tubes and filling interlock spaces formed by the interlocked substantially parallel tubes.
- 7. The method according to claim 1, wherein the step of emplacing the substantially parallel tubes proceeds serially.
- 8. The method according to claim 7, wherein the serial emplacing of the substantially parallel tubes and the interlocking of the substantially parallel tubes occur substantially simultaneously.
- 9. The method according to claim 1, further comprising the step of emplacing at least one sensor.
- 10. The method according to claim 9, further comprising providing a real-time data management system and placing the at least one sensor in communication with the real-time data management system.
- 11. The method according to claim 1, further comprising providing means for guiding at least one of the adjacent substantially parallel tubes into position.
- 12. The method according to claim 11, wherein the means for guiding at least one of the adjacent substantially parallel tubes into position comprises providing complementary interlocking structure, the complementary interlocking structure of a first substantially parallel tube cooperating with complementary interlocking structure of a second substantially parallel tube so as to guide the second substantially parallel tube into position.
- 13. The method according to claim 1, wherein emplacing the plurality of substantially parallel tubes comprises emplacing a plurality of substantially parallel tunnels.
- 14. The method according to claim 13, wherein emplacing plurality of substantially parallel tunnels comprises at least one of the substantially parallel tunnels partly intersecting at least one other tunnel.
- 14. The method according to claim 1, wherein emplacing a plurality of substantially parallel tubes adjacent to a zone of interest comprises emplacing the plurality of substantially parallel tubes underneath the zone of interest.
- 15. The method according to claim 1, wherein substantially filling the continuous barrier with barrier filler comprises substantially filling the continuous barrier with at least one of: grout, cement, concrete, bentonite-based material, modified cement, polysiloxane, and acrylic polymers.
- 16. The method according to claim 1, wherein emplacing a plurality of substantially parallel tubes adjacent to a zone of interest comprises emplacing a plurality of substantially parallel casing sections.
- 17. The method according to claim 16, wherein emplacing a plurality of substantially parallel casing sections comprises emplacing a plurality casing comprising steel.
