Claims
- 1. A connecting means for coupling a display means to a mounting means comprising:
- a tensile spring means for resiliently connecting said display means to said mounting means;
- an extension limiting sheath surrounding said spring means, said sheath having a higher rate of cross sectional reduction under elastic deformation than said spring means, said extension limiting sheath being heat shrunk onto said tensile spring means;
- a locking plate for attaching said sheath to said mounting means;
- a shroud abutting said locking plate and having a slot;
- wherein a proximal end of said sheath is anchored under said shroud and against said locking plate and said sheath extends through said slot and said shroud; and wherein a distal end of said sheath is anchored in said display means; and
- whereby extension of said tensile spring means is restricted when said sheath and said tensile spring means reach a cross point in their elastic deformation, preventing inelastic deformation of said tensile spring means.
- 2. The connecting means of claim 1, wherein the distance between said display means and said mounting means, when in a mounted relationship, is less than the length of said sheath between said distal end and said proximal end in an unstressed state thereof.
- 3. The connecting means of claim 1, wherein said tensile spring means comprises coiled music wire and said sheath comprises polyurethane plastic material.
- 4. A connecting means for coupling a display means to a slotted mounting means comprising:
- a tensile spring means for resiliently connecting display means to said mounting means; and
- an extension limiting sheath surrounding said spring means and including flanges at a proximal end and a distal end thereof;
- said sheath having a higher rate of cross-sectional reduction under elastic deformation than said tensile spring means; and
- said flange at said proximal end adapted to engage said slotted mounting means and said flange at said distal end adapted to engage said display means;
- wherein a distance between said display means and said slotted mounting means, when in a mounted relationship, is less than a length of said sheath between said distal end and said proximal end in an unstressed state thereof;
- whereby further extension of said tensile spring means is restricted when said sheath and said tensile spring means reach a cross-point in their elastic deformation to prevent inelastic deformation of said tensile spring means as said display means is moved away from said slotted mounting means.
- 5. The connecting means of claim 4, wherein said sheath is secured around said tensile spring means by heat shrinking said sheath onto said tensile spring means.
- 6. The connecting means of claim 4, wherein said tensile spring means comprises coiled music wire and said sheath comprises polyurethane plastic material.
- 7. A connecting means for coupling a display means to a slotted mounting means comprising:
- a tensile spring means comprising coiled music wire for resiliently connecting said display means to said slotted mounting means; and
- an extension limiting sheath secured around said tensile spring means by heat shrinking said sheath onto said tensile spring means, said sheath comprising polyurethane plastic material and including a first flange at a proximal end and a second flange at a distal end thereof;
- said sheath having a higher rate of cross-sectional reduction under elastic deformation than said tensile spring means; and
- said first flange at said proximal end adapted to engage slotted mounting means and said second flange at said distal end adapted to engage said display means;
- wherein a distance between said display means and said mounting means, when in a mounted relationship, is less than a length of said sheath between said distal end and said proximal end in an unstressed state thereof;
- whereby further extension of said tensile spring means is restricted when said sheath and said tensile spring means reach a cross-point in their elastic deformation to prevent inelastic deformation of said tensile spring means as said display means is moved away from said mounting means.
