Aerosol product comprising a foaming concentrate composition comprising particulate materials

Abstract
An aerosol product comprises a foaming concentrate composition that comprises a surfactant and particulate material having a particle size of at least about 100 μm. The foaming concentrate composition and propellant are contained in a package comprising a container and a powder valve comprising an orifice having an orifice diameter of at least about 508 μm. Preferably, a ratio of the maximum particle size of the particulate material to the orifice diameter of the orifice is less than about 0.75.

Claims
  • 1. An aerosol product comprising: (a) a foaming concentrate composition comprising: (i) at least 1%, by weight of said foaming concentrate composition, of a surfactant; and(ii) from about 0.1% to about 10%, by weight of said foaming concentrate composition, of particulate material; wherein said said foaming concentrate composition comprises at least about 0.1%, by weight of said foaming concentrate composition, of particulate material having a particle size of at least about 100 μm;(b) a propellant; and(c) a package containing said foaming concentrate composition and said propellant; wherein said package comprises a container and a powder valve comprising an orifice having an orifice diameter of at least about 508 μm;wherein a ratio of a maximum particle size of said particulate material to said orifice diameter of said orifice is less than about 0.75.
  • 2. The aerosol product of claim 1, wherein said particle size of said particulate material is at least about 150 μm.
  • 3. The aerosol product of claim 2, wherein said particle size of said particulate material is at least about 200 μm.
  • 4. The aerosol product of claim 1, wherein said maximum particle size of said particulate material is less than about 600 μm.
  • 5. The aerosol product of claim 4, wherein said maximum particle size of said particulate material is less than about 500 μm.
  • 6. The aerosol product of claim 1, wherein said orifice diameter of said orifice is at least about 610 μm.
  • 7. The aerosol product of claim 6, wherein said orifice diameter of said orifice is at least about 660 μm.
  • 8. The aerosol product of claim 1, wherein said ratio of said maximum particle size of said particulate material to said orifice diameter of said orifice is less than about 0.6.
  • 9. The aerosol product of claim 8, wherein said ratio of said maximum particle size of said particulate material to said orifice diameter of said orifice is less than about 0.5.
  • 10. The aerosol product of claim 1, wherein said particulate material is comprised of polyethylene, polypropylene, oxidized polyethylene, or mixtures thereof.
  • 11. The aerosol product of claim 1, wherein said surfactant is selected from the group consisting of anionic surfactant, amphoteric surfactant, nonionic surfactant, and mixtures thereof.
  • 12. The aerosol product of claim 11, wherein said anionic surfactant is a fatty acid soap and wherein said composition has a pH of from about 6 to about 7.5.
  • 13. The aerosol product of claim 1, wherein said foaming concentrate composition further comprises from about 0.001% to about 10%, by weight of said foaming concentrate composition, of a suspension agent.
  • 14. The aerosol product of claim 13, wherein said suspension agent is selected from the group consisting of synthetic layered silicates, beyntonite clays, cross-linked alkali-swellable acrylate copolymers, anionic hydrophobically modified alkali-soluble acrylic polymers, and mixtures thereof.
  • 15. The aerosol product of claim 1, wherein said aerosol product comprises from about 2% to about 20%, by weight of said foaming concentrate composition, of said surfactant.
  • 16. The aerosol product of claim 1, wherein said propellant is selected from the group consisting of propane, isobutane, dimethylether, 1,1-difluoroethane, butane, and mixtures thereof.
  • 17. The aerosol product of claim 16, wherein said propellant comprises dimethylether.
  • 18. The aerosol product of claim 1, wherein said foaming concentrate composition further comprises an anti-foaming agent.
  • 19. The aerosol product of claim 18, wherein said anti-foaming agent is selected from the group consisting of silicone fluids, silica materials, silicone resins; EO/PO block polymers, EO/PO/EO block polymers, PO/EO/PO block polymers, and mixtures thereof.
  • 20. The aerosol product of claim 1, wherein said package further comprises a non-hinged actuator.
  • 21. An aerosol product comprising: (a) a foaming concentrate composition comprising: (i) a surfactant; and(ii) from about 1% to about 10%, by weight of said foaming concentrate composition, of particulate material; wherein said said foaming concentrate composition comprises at least about 0.1%, by weight of said foaming concentrate composition, of particulate material having a particle size of at least about 100 μm;(b) a propellant; and(c) a package containing said foaming concentrate composition and said propellant; wherein said package comprises a container and a powder valve comprising an orifice having an orifice diameter of at least about 508 μm;wherein a ratio of a maximum particle size of said particulate material to said orifice diameter of said orifice is less than about 0.75.
  • 22. The aerosol product of claim 21, wherein said particle size of said particulate material is at least about 150 μm.
  • 23. The aerosol product of claim 22, wherein said particle size of said particulate material is at least about 200 μm.
  • 24. The aerosol product of claim 21, wherein said maximum particle size of said particulate material is less than about 600 μm.
  • 25. The aerosol product of claim 24, wherein said maximum particle size of said particulate material is less than about 500 μm.
  • 26. The aerosol product of claim 21, wherein said orifice diameter of said orifice is at least about 610 μm.
  • 27. The aerosol product of claim 26, wherein said orifice diameter of said orifice is at least about 660 μm.
  • 28. The aerosol product of claim 21, wherein said ratio of said maximum particle size of said particulate material to said orifice diameter of said orifice is less than about 0.6.
  • 29. The aerosol product of claim 28, wherein said ratio of said maximum particle size of said particulate material to said orifice diameter of said orifice is less than about 0.5.
  • 30. The aerosol product of claim 21, wherein said particulate material is comprised of polyethylene, polypropylene, oxidized polyethylene, or mixtures thereof.
  • 31. The aerosol product of claim 21, wherein said foaming concentrate composition comprises from about 1% to about 30%, by weight of said foaming concentrate composition, of said surfactant.
  • 32. The aerosol product of claim 31, wherein said surfactant is selected from the group consisting of anionic surfactant, amphoteric surfactant, nonionic surfactant, and mixtures thereof.
  • 33. The aerosol product of claim 32, wherein said anionic surfactant is a fatty acid soap and wherein said composition has a pH of from about 6 to about 7.5.
  • 34. The aerosol product of claim 21, wherein said foaming concentrate composition further comprises from about 0.001% to about 10%, by weight of said foaming concentrate composition, of a suspension agent.
  • 35. The aerosol product of claim 34, wherein said suspension agent is selected from the group consisting of synthetic layered silicates, bentonite clays, cross-linked alkali-swellable acrylate copolymers, anionic hydrophobically modified alkali-soluble acrylic polymers, and mixtures thereof.
  • 36. The aerosol product of claim 21, wherein said aerosol product comprises from about 1.5% to about 3%, by weight of said foaming concentrate composition, of said particulate material.
  • 37. The aerosol product of claim 21, wherein said propellant is selected from the group consisting of propane, isobutane, dimethylether, 1,1-difluoroethane, butane, and mixtures thereof.
  • 38. The aerosol product of claim 37, wherein said propellant comprises dimethylether.
  • 39. The aerosol product of claim 21, wherein said foaming concentrate composition further comprises an anti-foaming agent.
  • 40. The aerosol product of claim 39, wherein said anti-foaming agent is selected from the group consisting of silicone fluids, silica materials, silicone resins; EO/PO block polymers, EO/PO/EO block polymers, PO/EO/PO block polymers, and mixtures thereof.
  • 41. The aerosol product of claim 21, wherein said package further comprises a non-hinged actuator.
  • 42. An aerosol product comprising: (a) a foaming concentrate composition comprising: (i) a surfactant; and(ii) from about 0.1% to about 10%, by weight of said foaming concentrate composition, of particulate material; wherein said said foaming concentrate composition comprises at least about 0.1%, by weight of said foaming concentrate composition, of particulate material having a particle size of at least about 100 μm;(b) a propellant; and(c) a package containing said foaming concentrate composition and said propellant; wherein said package comprises a container and a powder valve comprising an orifice, said orifice having an opening area of at least about 0.340 mm2;wherein a ratio of maximum particle size of said particulate material to orifice diameter of said orifice is less than about 0.75.
  • 43. The aerosol product of claim 42, wherein said particle size of said particulate material is at least about 150 μm.
  • 44. The aerosol product of claim 43, wherein said particle size of said particulate material is at least about 200 μm.
  • 45. The aerosol product of claim 42, wherein said maximum particle size of said particulate material is less than about 600 μm.
  • 46. The aerosol product of claim 45, wherein said maximum particle size of said particulate material is less than about 500 μm.
  • 47. The aerosol product of claim 42, wherein said opening area of said orifice is at least about 0.370 mm2.
  • 48. The aerosol product of claim 47, wherein said opening area of said orifice is at least about 0.470 mm2.
  • 49. The aerosol product of claim 42, wherein said ratio of said maximum particle size of said particulate material to said orifice diameter of said orifice is less than about 0.6.
  • 50. The aerosol product of claim 49, wherein said ratio of said maximum particle size of said particulate material to said orifice diameter of said orifice is less than about 0.5.
  • 51. The aerosol product of claim 42, wherein said particulate material is comprised of polyethylene, polypropylene, oxidized polyethylene, or mixtures thereof.
  • 52. The aerosol product of claim 40, wherein said foaming concentrate composition comprises from about 1% to about 30%, by weight of said foaming concentrate composition, of said surfactant.
  • 53. The aerosol product of claim 52, wherein said surfactant is selected from the group consisting of anionic surfactant, amphoteric surfactant, nonionic surfactant, and mixtures thereof.
  • 54. The aerosol product of claim 53, wherein said anionic surfactant is a fatty acid soap and wherein said composition has a pH of from about 6 to about 7.5.
  • 55. The aerosol product of claim 42, wherein said foaming concentrate composition further comprises from about 0.001% to about 10%, by weight of said foaming concentrate composition, of a suspension agent.
  • 56. The aerosol product of claim 55, wherein said suspension agent is selected from the group consisting of synthetic layered silicates, bentonite clays, cross-linked alkali-swellable acrylate copolymers, anionic hydrophobically modified alkali-soluble acrylic polymers, and mixtures thereof.
  • 57. The aerosol product of claim 42, wherein said propellant is selected from the group consisting of propane, isobutane, dimethylether, 1,1-difluoroethane, butane, and mixtures thereof.
  • 58. The aerosol product of claim 57, wherein said propellant comprises dimethylether.
  • 59. The aerosol product of claim 42, wherein said foaming concentrate composition further comprises an anti-foaming agent.
  • 60. The aerosol product of claim 59, wherein said anti-foaming agent is selected from the group consisting of silicone fluids, silica materials, silicone resins; EO/PO block polymers, EO/PO/EO block polymers, PO/EO/PO block polymers, and mixtures thereof.
  • 61. The aerosol product of claim 42, wherein said package further comprises a non-hinged actuator.
