Claims
- 1. An air bag cover for an inflatable air bag system, wherein the air bag cover has front and back surfaces extending a predetermined length and a tear seam to allow an air bag to exit the air bag cover during deployment, the air bag cover comprising:
- a unitary thermoplastic elastomeric body having inner and outer surfaces molded in an injection mold; and
- wherein the tear seam is a single continuous tear seam and includes a rounded inner concave surface defining a singular break portion and a pair of walls extending from the rounded inner concave surface, wherein the rounded inner concave surface is formed in the inner surface of the cover, the single continuous tear seam further having a substantially constant thickness of 0.2 to 0.4 millimeters between the inner and outer surfaces of the cover and wherein the outer surface of the cover is undisturbed by inclusion of the rounded inner concave surface and the single continuous tear seam is visually imperceptible from the outer surface and the single continuous tear seam allows deployment of the air bag without the use of additional tear seams or openings in the cover.
