- the folded air bag is received on the passenger side of the partition wall in a first receiving part on a passenger side of the inflator and a second receiving part on a case opening side of the inflator so that the air bag is divided into two sections; and
- a case-side end portion of an air bag upper part to constitute an upper part of the deployed air bag being disposed covering the exit of the gas guiding passage.
- 2. An air bag device according to claim 1, wherein the case is mounted in the vehicle so as to open upward and a folded portion of the air bag upper part is received in the second receiving part and a folded portion of the air bag lower part to constitute a lower part of the deployed air bag is received in the first receiving part.
- 3. An air bag device according to claim 2, wherein the air bag upper part is folded in bellows form and the air bag lower part is folded in roll form.
- 4. An air bag device according to claim 2, wherein the air bag upper part is folded in roll form and the air bag lower part is folded in roll form.
- 5. An air bag devices comprising:
- a case having an opening and mounted in a vehicle;
- an air bag received inside the case in a folded state;
- an inflator for inflating the air bag to a passenger position, the inflator being disposed on the side of the inside of the case further from the passenger position, the air bag being received in a first receiving part on a passenger side of the inflator and a second receiving part on a case opening side of the inflator so that the air bag is divided into two sections;
- a partition wall at least partially partitioning a passenger side of the inside of the case from a side of the inside of the case farther from the passenger position;
- structure defining a gas guiding passage for guiding gas generated by the inflator, said gas guiding passage being disposed on the side of the partition wall further from the passenger position; and
- gas generated by the inflator being directed initially into a one of said two sections of the air bag within said second receiving part through said gas guiding passage.
- 6. An air bag device according to claim 5, wherein the case is mounted in the vehicle so that it opens upward and a folded portion of an air bag lower part to constitute a lower part of the deployed air bag is received in the first receiving part and a folded portion of an air bag upper part to constitute an upper part of the deployed air bag is received in the second receiving part.
- 7. An air bag device according to claim 6, wherein the air bag lower part is folded in roll form and the air bag upper part is folded in bellows form.
- 8. An air bag device according to claim 6, wherein the air bag lower part is folded in roll form and the air bag upper part is folded in roll form.
- 9. An air bag device, comprising:
- a case having an opening and mounted in a vehicle;
- an air bag received inside the case in a folded state;
- an inflator for inflating the air bag to a passenger position, the inflator being disposed on a side of the inside of the case furthest from the passenger position;
- the air bag being received in a first receiving part on a passenger side of the inflator and a second receiving part on a case opening side of the inflator so that the air bag is divided into two sections; and
- a diffuser for regulating a flow of gas generated by the inflator is so provided that it covers the inflator and also the opening area of a gas delivery opening of the diffuser on a second receiving part side is greater than the opening area of a gas delivery opening of the diffuser on a first receiving part side.
- 10. An air bag device according to claim 9, wherein the diffuser is provided with a partition wall extending toward the case opening and partitioning the first receiving part from the second receiving part.
- 11. An air bag device for mounting in a vehicle, comprising:
- a case including an upper opening, a passenger side wall and a side wall further from a passenger position;
- an air bag received inside the case in a folded state;
- an inflator for inflating the air bag through said opening toward a passenger, the inflator being disposed on a side of the inside of the case further from the passenger position; and
- the air bag being received in a first receiving part between the inflator and the passenger side wall of the case and a second receiving part on a case opening side of the inflator so that the air bag is divided into two sections, said second receiving part being located in an elevated position relative to said inflator.
- 12. An air bag device according to claim 11, wherein the case is mounted in a vehicle so that it opens upward and a folded portion of an air bag lower part to constitute a lower part of the deployed air bag is received in the first receiving part and a folded portion of an air bag upper part to constitute an upper part of the deployed air bag is received in the second receiving part.
- 13. An air bag device according to claim 12, wherein the air bag lower part is folded in roll form and the air bag upper part is folded in bellows form.
